From the series of memories created while in Prague, there is also a special place where we began most of our mornings just because it was pretty close to where we had our accommodation booked and it felt just right to walk on the waterfront, sit for a while, enjoy a brunch prepared at home, and get ready for a new day.
This happened in most of the cases at Vyton Naplavka which represents the waterfront of Vltava River that is absolutely huge, measuring a total length of 430,3 km. There are rumours that this one is connected with the Danube Delta which crosses my home country, Romania, but in reality, this could have been possible only in the past, around millions of years ago when things were a lot better than now, at least for the natural part that dresses up the globe.
Our days in Prague were quite crowded, running from a spot we wanted to discover, to a different one. And then a different one. And another one. And we kept doing that from the very first hours of the day until the evening was slowly setting by.
But a thing that we did make no exception to, was to always have a walk on the Vyton Naplavka first, which felt like the best warmup we could have before letting the day properly begin.
I'm not sure what I loved so much about this place - the view was absolutely amazing, but the thing that perhaps conquered my heart the most was the calmness of the waterfront, as well as not seeing lots of people around.
Actually, from my research, Vyton Naplavka wasn't always like that. It actually became more developed in 2020 when more restaurants, shops, and furry services were added, which were all closed during our trip but that most likely never sleep when it's summer and a lot more people travel in Prague.
But as we never chased crowded places, nor are used to having too many meals at restaurants or doing a lot of shopping, none of these aspects bothered us, but quite the opposite. Made our walks a lot more enjoyable and nice.
A place where we've seen a bit more activity, was around this huge boat which could be noticed even from the distance. However, I failed terribly to find out what that is so perhaps @phortun can help satisfy my curiosity?
From the outside it seemed like one of those huge boats for people who love cruises, having both restaurants and bedrooms on board. You know, the usual thing rich people enjoy from time to time, lol. But I might make a confusion here.
Anyway, after we had our morning walk, improvised brunch, lots of pictures and a good talk while making the plan for the rest of the day, we slowly made our way to our first destination, being needed to cross the bridge you can see in the picture behind me.
That one is called Palacký Bridge or Czech: Palackého most and its architecture is not random as it dates since 1876 making it one of the oldest functioning bridges you can see in Prague after Charles Bridge which is, perhaps, the most famous one in Prague and which we will cover in a different day.
Palacký Bridge was built as the 3rd main bridge of Prague that made the cross over the Vltava River possible after Charles Bridge and Franz Joseph Bridge but the last one was damaged not long after it was built, being dismantled a few years later.
Palacký Bridge is located over the Vltava River, and along the river, you can enjoy Vyton Naplavka which is one of the most relaxing and beautiful waterfronts I have walked in a while. We only walked on a small section of this one, but by following it you can reach Charles Bridge and other interesting spots over the water to enjoy moments away from crowds and in silence. So a proper plan trip is not really required in this case.
Other places I've seen during my stay in Prague:
- The "John Lennon" Wall
- The Nustle Bridge also known as "The Suicide Bridge" of Prague
- Street Art in Prague
- The Dancing House
- Idiom Installation - the book tower of the Prague library
- Vyton Naplavka and Palackého Most
more coming soon...
