Hello everyone. As part of the #aliveandthriving initiative, I welcome you to the Wednesday Wellbeing Club, of which I participate. Just wanted to let everyone know again that I'm alive and thriving this first week of October. The time is flying by. The holidays are fast approaching.

I'm back again to share with you my progress in Week 8 and some valuable information on the Wellbeing Club that's hosted by @shanibeer over in the Natural Medicine Community.

The Club kicked off its initiative on Wednesday, August 11. However, you can join in any time. You can also read about it here: Wednesday Wellbeing Club | 11 August - 24 November | Week 1: Wednesday 18 August 2021. We've only about a month left on our journey.

When @shanibeer announced the Wednesday Wellbeing Club initiative in August during the Saturday Savers Club meeting on the @eddie-earner account, it just fit with my new perspective of making a permanent lifestyle change after being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2019.

Being a part of the Wellbeing Club has given me the opportunity to assess my weekly routines. It also provides me the time to address some tasks and projects that may not be serving me well or in my best interest. That's where @shanibeer's initiative on Wednesdays helped me. She is away Hive, so yesterday she was not able to produce her usual Wednesday report. However, you can still review her report from last week if you missed it: Wednesday Wellbeing Club | 11 August - 24 November | Week 7: Wednesday 29 September 2021.

The Wednesday Wellbeing Club is all about adapting to changes you make. It's not about adhering to others changes that think they know best about your life and your lifestyle. I adopted the Club's Rule of Fives as my guideline. Then I tailored them to fit my personality and well being agenda.

The ability to create my own Rules and work within the Club's framework is easy. That way, I'll be able to fully maintain my wellbeing plan.

Here is my Rule of FOURS for each week:
  • Lose 2 lbs.;
  • Enjoy 4 x 30-minute sessions of physical activity (either indoors or outdoors);
  • Eat 4 x (1/2 cup combined) - portions of fruit and vegetables each day;
  • Get 4 nights x 8 hours sleep.
  • Carve out 4 x 30-minute sessions offline either with family or self-indulgence quiet time.

WHEN THINGS GO WRONG

In @shanibeer's post from last week, she provided tips on how she handles issues when things go wrong and how it affects your wellbeing. She asks, "do you have any tips for when things go wrong? Because they surely will!"

Wellness: Keep Focused

My weight has been slow to date. Last week, I consumed only a liquid diet ahead of my Colonoscopy. As a result, I lost 3.5 lbs. in one day. That increase caused my total weight loss to be 8 lbs. I'm happy to report only one pollup was found, removed, and tested negative. What a relief. My doctor placed me on a seven year return procedure. That's better than the last five years. That means that the next one will be my final procedure as it's not recommended for seniors over the age of 75.

Also, as a result of rapid weight loss, the past seven days, I have been holding steady. Watching what I ate all week helped as I didn't want to completely blow the incentive I started. However, I gained one pound. This was probably due to the increase in fluids I'm retaining that I'd previously lost.

I'm back to my normal routine of attempting to lose two pounds a week. The key is to not get discouraged. I've been in a positive mood all week even with the one pound weight gain.

I feel that this week has been a good one. I still haven't reached my goals in some areas of my wellbeing plan. As with any goal, I'll just continue to follow my new Wellbeing Club RULES OF 4.
See you next Wednesday everyone for Week 9 of the Wellbeing Club. If you are participating in any lifestyle change program, I'd love to hear what you are doing or your program that works well for you.
