I think Success is a hopelessly subjective concept. To me Success on Steemit means consuming lots of great content by wonderful creators while also being able to express myself. It's as basic as that.

So I arrive on Steemit. Write a my first article.  Feel super proud as I push the POST button And I get that error message: TRANSACTION FAILED!!! I press it again.  Same thing happens. I open
