The UK just keeps on baking at the moment, with another hot sunny week the temperature is showing no intention of dropping from the mid to late twenties - making nights particularly hot and stuffy.
Roasted coffee orders have picked up again, although the heatwave is making it a tad toasty next to roasters all day - the big 30kg regularly hits 30 degrees next to it. Fortunately the room with the 5kg in has an air conditioner so that helps keep it more like mid twenties - but when you walk in there at 7.30am and it’s already 25 degrees before you start - just from the retained heat and the fact it’s not dropping in temperature outside you have to wonder if the little island of UK hasn’t floated itself towards the Caribbean!
Anyway on the whole business has been brisk, a good range of orders for both green and roasted coffee, some big contract orders placed for shipping over the next three months which gives us solid guaranteed income - always nice for a small business - and with a solid base of regular local customers for roasted coffee - with new commercial clients popping up and our marketing team have pushed out to expand that even more with an introduction sample and letter gift boxed to all the local cafe’s - that’s going to keep us busy busy.
Outside work I have been enjoying the sun during the evenings, nice to sit out in the garden and wind down on an evening - just a shame it’s too warm on a night to sleep comfortably. I have also continued ploughing through the Gas Monkey Garage series - which seems to cover many many years - I started out at the latest series and then went back to the beginning - which was fun seeing how the business had grown from nothing. It’s really entertaining watching them pick up old cars to either quick flip - or do a full resto-mod turning classic old cars into supercharged drag racers - while still keeping a lot of the classic look.
And on the subject of cars the Tesla Model Y is again my recording studio for this vlog, 5 weeks, 600 miles of driving - still super impressed. In fact it just seems to get better every day - always something impresses me whenever I drive it - plus I do really love driving it - the morning commute is far more enjoyable and not such a chore. One super convenient thing for me is having an Apple Watch app for the Tesla, which no only acts as the key - so if I happen to not have my iPhone with me the watch will let me get into the car and use it - but also I can do many of the app based features from the watch - Vent, turn on climate, open frunk and open the trunk. Opening the boot before you get to the car is super convenient all the time, with the Rav 4 it had a powered boot but I had to fish around in my pocket for the key to press the boot button. For the Tesla I have a complication on my watch face for the boot - press that is says open boot yes or no - hit yes and the boot opens. Super convenient if I am doing multiple deliveries in one place and have to go back and forth to the car, walking back to the car with shopping - and just going into and out of the car for stuff from home.
