So I skipped another week with the Vlog, last Friday proved far too busy at work and some how over the weekend I never found chance to fit it in.
So the start to September brought with it final blast of summer, with a full with of hot sunny weather reaching mid to late 20’s degrees celsius - after the wet and cool July and August it proved a welcome respite although we are heading into the cold winter months, with the nights drawing in quickly.
Work has been as busy as ever, with a constant stream of new orders keeping both roasters busy, and new local stores coming on board adding to our long list of local coffee shops, restaurants and bars.
On the back of receiving a coveted 2 start award for our Rwanda coffee at this years Great Taste Awards, we have now also be shortlisted for Deliciously Yorkhire’s awards with our Kenya Ngoe farm coffee - we are always confident our coffee is excellent quality because so many people keep returning to enjoy it - but it’s nice to have some awards to back that up too.
With the crazy hot weather there was also a surprise, having given the Tesla a good wash at home prior to the hot weather, expecting it to be pristine and shiny throughout the dry spell - on Thursday morning I woke up to it covered in what looked like a layer of mud. It turns out the hot weather had brought Saharan desert sand in the jet stream, and short rain spells overnight had caught the sand depositing it in the rain drops over everything. Anyway a quick jet wash on Thursday night at home cleared it all off and got the Tesla back to its resplendent shiny redness - Elon Musk would be so proud.
And keeping with the Tesla, despite the UK press always seeming to be full of people hating their EV’s and finding all manner of problems from range, lack of charging points and expensive public charging - I have had no issues in four months of ownership. That said for people who commute 100’s of miles a day and can’t charge at home - an EV is really not a great option right now - in fact charing at home or work is pretty much a definite requirement to make an EV work - the public charging network is still too limited, often overcrowded and really too expensive often more then double home charging costs.
One thing I will say about the Tesla is it’s the only car I have had that get’s looks and comments, it definitely stands out against the mainstream car brands and when parked out and about it seems like there is always someone to say Awesome car, Oooh Tesla nice or just want to ask about the features. That said they have definitely got more common in the local area this year, Model 3 and Model Y are to be seen daily on the roads which is no surprise with the aggressive pricing policy Tesla started earlier this year.
