My Actifit Report Card: February 5 2024

We did a bit of a different hike today by trekking up along the Copper Basin Wash from the southern end heading north towards Skull Valley.

Our morning walk was a bit longer at 3 miles since both Lulu and I wanted to loop around on the trail section a couple of extra times. No more snow around here but the surrounding mountains have a nice fine white coating from the recent snows.
I hoped that the route up the wash would be interesting but it wasn't as nice as our normal route down through the Prescott National Forest side. The dirt roads approaching the area were washed out so it was a mile hike just to get down to the wash and then it was a winding and rocky route from there.

Lulu really didn't care for scrambling over the rocky terrain and it was a hard hike for me as well. The narrow rocky ravine meant that a lot of the wash had been eroded down and the footing was lousy.

We ventured just a bit over 2 miles until we got to the fence across the wash that indicates the beginning of National Forest lands and figured it was time to head back.
Only a few copper ores along the way for my collection buy there were a few small pools of water remaining for Lulu to cool her feet and get a sip for the return trip.

We chugged along a winding ATV route that criss-crossed the wash so the walking was easier for us both although the scenery was nothing spectacular.

Guess we'll stick with the northern wash from now on.
