and my Engrave dblog:
Waking around 5am, I hopped out of bed to see the start of the storm. From 5-7am we had rainfall accumulations of 20mm an hour. Hoorah. I figured I might take a walk to the lake with the dam and see how high the water is there while there is a 2hr gap at 9am in the rain for 40 minutes.
It was already pouring when I got up so I did my normal routine and morning ritual, took care of my indoor botany and plants then my hydroponics, and proceeded to have my coffee, watch "Reign" and do my crypto finances and generation. I actually posted a guide on how I started with cryptocurrency.

You can see the details of the storm in yesterdays post, @trezzahn/actifit-trezzahn-20210922t000434241z
So far it appears we have gotten 45mm, as per reports of this region and seen below,
With an additional 6mm between now and 9pm tonight (0.5mm an hour, not bad), but with another dumping we shall see how the canal and waterways handle such;
The above showcasing 5mm an hour for approximately 3hours setting us at approximately 60mm by midnight, and an additional 1mm an hour until 7:30am/8am Thursday putting us at approximately 50-70mm dependant on coming rainfall. Some radars predict higher amounts, such as the model I tend to follow,
While GCA radar showcases the area in black and white (coloured by me) getting around 50mm+ between 7am Wednesday and 7am Thursday, with up to 10mm following to Thursday afternoon;
- Only difference among these forecasts being one showcases the next 24hrs, one the next 30 of rainfall
After looking through the data it was clear that, thankfully, with the latter half of the storm past, I think the canal and lake may hold steady.
The below showcasing vorticity of this storm and its' true stretch; with the low pressure of this heavy "moisture-laden" storm it is clear that air pressure and effects will be felt durther all the way east past New York state and New England to the coast these coming days;
- With this vorticity, similar to a tropical storm, the speed at which it moves is slow, circular and counterclockwise in motion
With the above showcasing our rainfall, flood watch and storm warning predicting 50-75mm surrounding Toronto (which is accurate) and 100mm east, nearer to Lake Huron, where they have reported waves upwards of 10ft.
I threw together this graphic to best display rotation, rainfall, storm-track, areas with excessive rainfall, and some other details. Took me about an hour but I'm happy with it.
I will be walking over now to give the lake a checkout!
It was nice to get out in between the downpours. Another is coming, but I got some time;
I walked the trail around the park,
This picture turned out beautifully!
Arriving at the lake, it was clear the water, even with an open dam, had risen almost two feet. I used to walk and fish on rocks 5ft in from here,
Can't even see the water pouring in, only bubbles!
And the dam...goodness it was flowing fast! And it was deep! I wonder about the canal, collecting all this; it must be high.
I snagged this picture on my way back of some beautiful changing leaves and the lake,
And arrived back right before the rain began again!
I decided to relax for the remainder of the morning and early afternoon, for when the rain poured, it poured.
And so, it poured long and steady into the early evening hours of the night and prevented me from being able to take my normal evening walk, so I just took a quick stroll around with the umbrella.
Around 7pm, the rain had started to pick up again and it was clear that we would have a few more hours of this.
Looking at the streets, water was pooling on the side of the road. That of which would normally have had been drained, but could not due to the knocking and breaking of small branches, falling and further clogging of sewers with autumn leaves, and road debris blocking the drainage.
Hopefully this won't be an issue overnight as it will rain steady at this rate. Regardless, we have protections in place.
Entering my tired state of mind and preparing myself for bed, it came to me that, like raindrops, we all are as individuals simply splatters of matter trying to make a point in life; a mark or a spot, if you must - similar to a raindrop hitting a patch of pavement. We are all looking for ways to separate from one another and showcase our own individualism.
And I realized this today when I was walking through the rain and smiling without reason.
In a sense, I know I am more than that of a rainfall being not my own individual - but am instead that of a large raindrop. One leaving his clear mark on the ground. For I have a path, a clear spot that I know I will leave. And I intend to make it splatter.
For now, cheers to another good day and to tomorrows fellow ActiFitters!🍻
