It's earth day, a day set aside to celebrate nature. Nature is beautiful, God took his wonderful time to craft this mother earth, and gave her to us to nurture, but it's something to worry about that instead of nurturing it, most of us are rather tearing it apart and abusing it.

It's the 22nd day of the month of April, the #aprilinleo challenge is still on if you're still yet to join, there's still an opportunity for you to do so. For today's prompt, it's

Earth Day, Ecology Conservation.

Today is a day that has been set aside for us to ponder on our actions as it relates to preserving the environment. Are you one of those that is destroying the environment by your actions knowingly or unknowingly, so we're all being given the opportunity to rethink and retrace our steps as regarding to the environment around us.

Preserving and conservating our environment is everyone's collective responsibility, not the responsibility of one man or woman.

Some Activities that does not Promote Preservation and Conservation

Deforestation

This has to with the indiscriminate felling of trees. Plants are a very essential part of our lives, they contribute to our survival, as they release oxygen as the end product of their metabolism, which is released into the environment, we all know that we humans need oxygen to survive. So the more the plants and trees in our environment, the better quality of air we have to breathe.

Indiscriminate Waste Disposal

Dumping of refuse anyhow can lead to pollution of the environment, thereby reducing the quality of air we get to breathe and also the water we drink as these pollutants seep into these water bodies.

Destructive Fishing Methods

This is another way by which we can destroy or cause havoc to the environment, in this case water bodies. The use of explosives like dynamite for fishing can destroy other aquatic life, and also drastically reduce the amount of fishes in the water body, and also those that are not needed could also get killed when the explosive goes off. The use of these explosives could also disrupt the aquatic ecosystem. I once saw a movie where due to the exploration activities carried out by scientists in water bodies, the sound barrier or so was disrupted, and the deep water aquatic animals were able to come to the surface water, this became a problem as these animals began attacking the scientists that had set up their lab in the water. So these practices could pose as a hazard to us in the long run.

Excessive Mining

The over exploitation of the soil can lead to the breakdown of soil structure, thereby making the soil susceptible to things like leaching and erosion.

These are only a few of some activities that we practice that have adverse effects on the environment. Instead of just felling trees, why don't we plant another one in order to maintain the balance in the environment. Organic baits could be used instead of explosives for fishing purpose. Mining also should be done considering the environment so as to maintain a healthy environment.

So no matter what you do, always consider the environment, a healthy and sustainable environment is for the good of everyone, so let us try to make it happen.

This is my entry to the #aprilinleo challenge day 22, if you haven't joined and you want to go here for more details.
