Meet OCD's Curators & Community Leaders #2

For the last four years, OCD has been curating daily undervalued content in the chain. The project adapts and strives to the changes in the blockchain. We continue to grow and keep the project fresh with new ideas by bringing in passionate curators and, in recent addition, community leaders.

From OCD daily curation, community incubation program, and Posh curation, one of the common factors to make all this happen is our curator's and community leaders' involvement.

As a part of appreciating their time and effort, we will highlight our OCD curators and the community leaders. By highlighting them, we invite you to meet and learn about the folks behind OCD & the community leaders supported in the incubation program.

You can check their profile and give them a follow, but please do not direct message them with a link to your post. The curators and community leaders are constantly browsing the chain and the community to find your content. Hence, as an author, keep focusing on creating quality content and engaging in the community you prefer.

OCD Curators & Community leaders

@gentleshaid

My name is Shaid. @gentleshaid on hive. I am from Nigeria. I started my Hive journey from the former chain since November 14, 2017. As a Botanist, my primary niche is stem and that's what I started with. It did not take long when I was discovered by stemsocial community founders and was recruited as a sub-community manager/Curator. I bought into their vision immediately and since then, I have been with the stemsocial team both as a Curator and community administrator for Nigerian stem enthusiasts on the blockchain. I curate for stemsocial community and also manage the community of Nigerian stem authors/enthusiasts on the hive blockchain.

We have a discod server that can be accessed here : https://discord.gg/fu5wRpAand a community account, @stemng.

I recently got involved with OCD as a representative community manager for stemsocial and hope to get involved in a couple of projects in the next few days, hopefully.

The community has evolved along with the chain. We currently have over one thousand two hundred subscribers in the stemsocial community and even much more in our discord server. Many pioneer authors and curators have abandoned the chain or project and many more have joined. It's been a joyful roller coaster ride.
I want hive to be the go to platform for authentic information about any topic whatsoever. I hope to see hive contents ranking high in searches and the hive token taking it's place among the top cryptocurrencies.

@qwerrie

I am from Russia, came to Steemit in April 2019. Before that had a blog at WeKu.io and generally speaking my knowledge of crypto still sucks. Professional occupation is book layout, editing, prepress, images processing - this kind of stuff. Also I am history lover and amateur photographer - this is another reason why I came to blockchain. NB. I am not a native speaker, but folks use to say my English is quite fluent.

I founded and maintain 'Fungi Lovers' community to run an old mushroom friday contest running on Steemit since 2018, and to have a place dedicated to this subject. I am not an expert in mushrooms, but some other moderators are: @davidgermano, @sketch.and.jam, @ewkaw is also curator for Q and Curangel, she is passionate but quite busy. Community has it 4 hiveans assigned as mods, but I am doing all of the job, including curation and writing reports. @ewkaw (from Qurator team) also may drop links to request OCD curation, but does it quite rarely.

Other communities I enjoy to check on more or less (rather less) regular basis: Antique & Vintage, Book Club, Kids community, maybe the History community (but it is dead rn). I may be intrested in curating those niches, and also evaluate the Russian stuff. Also I was involved in creating Russian translations for SBI docs (work still in progress). In year 2020 I had a load of spare time (was jobless for 14 months!) but now this have changed, probably I will spend less time on Hive from now on.

Well, I rather count Fungi Lovers as a niche and special intrest community. I also consider that partly it overlaps with other communities such as: NaturalMedicine, Photolovers, AmazingNature, Foodies, and also cant but mention Mushroom Growing (hive-152514) which by now is dead. There always was a small mighty group of Hiveans posting the stuff, during the last year it sufficiently increased, as awareness arise... we've got a small group of hiveans from Indonesia, constantly posting on regular basis. Recently @bambuka initiated a weekly contest. We are about 500 subscribers and 50 regular posters now, account power crossed 1000 HP (with extra 2500+ HP delegated). So I guess development is natural and normal.

I hold my breath for communities development, stuff sorted out and further tags / crossposting / niche development. So far it goes on and on, all feels right. I want to see more folks settle here for a long-run (not like: this: earned 100 Hives, sold them and run run run to spend them asap :)As for FL community, among my expectations are: folks educate themselves about edible mushroom species, learn iDs, learn how to identify them, develop their level of photography, and a little more engagement.

@melinda010100

I'm Melinda @melinda010100 and I am the Community leader for both the Feathered Friends Community and the Shadow and Reflection Hunters Community.

I started my Hive journey from the former chain in May 2017 after my partner died and I was looking for something that would keep me occupied during retirement without him.

I started the Shadow Hunters Contest in January 2018 when the token price was high and I saw it as a way to curate the posts of others and to make more friends. It was always intended to be fun, creative and a way to engage with others, not as photo competition. Today we have over 600 community members and a lot of active engagement! We have 3 contests, some great contest sponsors and give out a lot of Hive and Ecency POINTS each week to our members.

Feathered Friends began when I suggested to a fellow birdwatching friend that we begin to use the #featheredfriends tag and curate the tag with 'resteems' and our votes. It grew quickly, but he left the platform and I didn't want to see it die and I put some effort into building the community. Today we are rapidly approaching 1000 members, many of whom are passionate and knowledgeable birdwatchers from all around the world, who can offer identification of that photo of a bird that you saw in your backyard. We host one contest that is quickly growing in popularity and we curate it with votes, Hive prizes and Ecency POINTS.

Both communities have amazingly dedicated mods who keep things running smoothly as we continue to grow.

Of course I hope to see the Hive token taking its rightful place among the top cryptocurrencies. I love the support OCD, Ecency and Archon are giving communities and I would like to see communities grow large enough where, someday in the future, we will begin to see support from a niche advertiser or two.
I'm excited to hear that more developement is being done on making communities on Hive even better.

@storiesoferne

My Hive account username is @storiesoferne. You can call me ERNE for short. Professionally, I'm a private-practicing Architect who helps people build their dreams. Personally, I'm passionate about traveling, mentoring, digital media, entrepreneurship, and creative writing.

My introduction to the Hive happened last August 2020, and what an awesome journey it is! Because of this social platform, I've connected with new faces around the world, made some exciting friendships, and learned state-of-the-art technologies like cryptocurrency, blockchain, censorship-resistance, and decentralization.

I'm one of the founders of the Architecture+Design Community on the Hive social blockchain. And together with my dear friend and fellow Architect @discoveringarni, we lead this vibrant tribe of enthusiasts and creators who focus on publishing digital content for architecture, interior design, furniture design, urban design, and environmental design.

We're fairly new kids on the block however, with the approval and support of the OCD team, we became part of their curation family while enjoying the creation, collection, and promotion of awesome architecture and design content until today. We currently have an active community account called @aplusd who takes care of our contests, curation compilations, and other moderator activities.

The Architecture+Design Community was born on October 5, 2020, the same date when the annual World Architecture Day was celebrated. The launch day was a nervous time for us as we were not sure how the Hive platform would receive us. On the other hand, we were unexpectedly welcomed with open arms as we continued to grow every single day with the influx of new subscribers, active participants, and consistent contributors. We are optimistic of the growing interest the Hive ecosystem has shown to our community and we're now able and ready to take it to the next level.

I firmly believe that with dedication, cooperation, and teamwork, the Hive social blockchain together with its member communities, the Architecture+Design Community included, would experience unprecedented progress and development as it valuably benefits from the limitless opportunities delivered by Web 3.0 and beyond. At the end of the day, it's all about our collaborative efforts in transforming our world for the better!

@ybanezkim26

I'm Kim Ybañez (@ybanezkim26) from the Philippines. I'm a chemical engineer by profession, but I quit my day job last October 2020 to pursue my passion in blogging. Now, I'm all in for Hive.

I joined in the previous blockchain last September 25, 2017 and I think I'm one of the remaining few left here in the Philippines. I had my ups and downs in both platforms. I witnessed a lot of in-fighting and countless of juicy drama. Most importantly, I was there when the previous chain was attacked. I felt so old just by saying these things, but if you think about it, Hive will be one year old a few days from now. And look where we are now. I believe we are in a much better place than before.

I never left because I believed in the power of immutability, censorship-resistant, and decentralized platforms to be disruptive. I want to be in the front seat when people start to realize how awesome Hive is.

I never left because I met a lot of people who truly cares. I made connections that transcend beyond our screens. I had fun and now, I am able to live through Hive.

I am OCD's direct curator/moderator. I author the weekly community contests, curate OCD posh links with @traciyork, compile the other niche communities curated posts, and make announcements related to community updates.

Aside from OCD's direct moderation, I am also involved in Haveyoubeenhere and Toys on Hive curation with @livinguktaiwan.
