Meet OCD's Curators & Community Leaders #1

For the last four years, OCD has been curating daily undervalued content in the chain. The project adapts and strives to the changes in the blockchain. We continue to grow and keep the project fresh with new ideas by bringing in passionate curators and, in recent addition, community leaders.

From OCD daily curation, Community incubation program, and Posh curation, one of the common factors to make all this happen is our curator's and community leaders' involvement.

As a part of appreciating their time and effort, we will highlight our OCD curators and the community leaders. By highlighting them, we invite you to meet and learn about the folks behind OCD & the community leaders supported in the incubation program.

You can check their profile and give them a follow, but please do not direct message them with a link to your post. The curators and community leaders are constantly browsing the chain and the community to find your content. Hence, as an author, keep focusing on creating quality content and engaging in the community you prefer.

OCD Curators & Community leaders

@derangedvisions

I am DerangedVisions and I have been around on the chain since Jan 2018. As a photographer, I have been mostly involved on Hive/Steem with the photography communities.

I created the Photography Lovers Community a while back, I think I created it while I was in Thailand for Steemfest 4 and it has been growing ever since. I wanted to create a community that was not just for professional photographers, but a place for anyone that has a love for photography. The curation team that I have selected curates posts of all skill levels. We mainly look for posts that are interesting and fun. We do not curate single photo posts or people that never engage with others on the blockchain. We prefer to reward those that put effort into their posts and not multiple posts a day to all of the communities.

Photography Lovers Community has over 4000 subscribers and has become a place for many photography enthusiasts to share their work. It is awesome to see the community grow each day and all of the amazing photos from all over the world.

My hopes and aspirations for Hive and the community is to make it a rewarding place for those that put effort into their passion.

@crosheille

My name is @crosheille and I'm from the U.S. I joined the other chain back in July of 2016. I am a stay at home wife and mom of five children. When I'm not homeschooling or doing house chores I love to crochet and have fun with photography. I use both of these pastimes to earn additional income to help my household and for pleasure money. Over these past 4 1/2 years I have learned so much from being apart of this platform and have gained so many new valuable friendships. I have also grown as a leader.

I am the founder of the NeedleWorkMonday Community. I started the #needleworkmonday tag in July 2017 to connect with other needleworkers around the globe. I wanted us to find each other easier in order to mingle, support and inspire one another. I created the offical @needleworkmonday account in July 2018 and from there we grew into the community that we are today. I am also an admin for the Stock Images Community founded by @minismallholding. Together @pavanjr and I share rhe task of compiling the weekly curation compilation posts. I am also and admin for the Home Edders Community also founded by @minismallholding. I haven't had the time lately to be involved there as much as I would like to be but @ryivhnn is also there to help oversee the community.

The NeedleWorkMonday Community has evolved quite a bit over time. From starting out with only just a handful of members the @needleworkmonday account currently has a following of 430 and our Community has grown to over 500 members. With the help of @shanibeer and her delegation we were able to give more support to our members. From their other delegations came including the support from the OCD Incubation Program which has helped get needleworkers on the map and receiving invaluable support. @Shanibeer joined me behind the scenes to administrate and build the community. Soon after @muscara and @marblely joined as adminstrators and are both currently helping me oversee the community, faciliate contests and curate weekly. We now also have Community Builders (CB's) on our team who help find and invite other needleworkers to our community and make newcomers feel at home. These four ladies are @lauramica, @neumannsalva, @romeskie and @afrikablr.

My hopes and aspirations for Hive and the community are to continue seeing growth and valuable developments. I want to see a rise in interaction, support and inspiration happening from all angles. I hope to see content creators continue to develop their writing skills improving on the quality of their work by elaborating in their posts. I feel that sharing the steps or process of your work improves the quality, attracts interaction and validates you as a creator. I hope to see Hive continue to rise in membership and in token value.

@Knowhow92

My name is @Knowhow92, I am 28 years old and I love skateboarding. I joined Steem Hive 3 and a half years ago and I've been hooked with crypto ever since.

I am the creator of Skatehive Skateboading community on Hive and as the name suggest, our community is all around skateboarding. Skatehive was created 2 and a half years ago (used to be called Steemskate back on Steem) and our goal is to educate skaters how they can monetize their content in a decentralized chain (Hive) while at the same time earn crypto so they can pay for their skate gear.

Skatehive has comed a long way the past 2 years. We were 3-4 guys when Skatehive was born and look at us now! We are now counting more than 270 community members and the numbers keep going up! Gotta thank OCD and it's community incubation program for this as well as Hive witness @liondani for his 50k Hive Power Delegation!

My hope is that one day people will understand that they are the "product" in centralized social media and will come flocking to Hive! As for Skatehive, we will keep doing what we do best and that's supporting skateboarders. We are the very first decentralized skateboarding community on the web so if you have any friends who are into crypto and skateboarding bring them to us and we'll take care of the rest.

#SKATEHIVE FOR LIFE

@discoveringarni

I am @discoveringarni on Hive, based on a tropical island in the Philippines. I am an architect by profession but I have always enjoyed writing and blogging. I started my Hive journey last year (May 2020) during the quarantine. It was a trial and error, and gradually grasped how it works. I'm still learning continuously and in the process, stumbled upon new friends in real life because of this platform.

I am co-founder of Architecture + Design Community along with @storiesoferne who is also a licensed architect. Quite serendipitous that we met in a local design conference/workshop and we kept in touch after that. We knew that we needed a space to write about Architecture, Interior Design, Furniture Design, Urban Design and Environmental Design so we decided to create this community to continue the design conversations on Hive. The community is managed by @aplusd who is in charge of curation compilation posts and contests. We pitched this new niche and became part of OCD Curation Team.

Our community started last October 5, 2020 timed on the celebration of World Architecture Day. We were pretty apprehensive at first how the blockchain would react to this new niche since it's not an easy subject to write about. We were just a handful at first and slowly, we attracted new subscribers and design enthusiasts sharing design posts. We started with a contest theme: What is Your Dream House and from there we started receiving design interests. It's a pleasure to discover the creativity of many content creators who interpret the design topics in various ways. The response exceeded our expectations.

We aspire for the A+D community to grow steadily along with the Hive. To be able to stay true to our Big Whys and voice out the importance of the architectural, construction and design profession within and beyond the platform.

@LivingUKTaiwan

Hi I'm @LivingUKTaiwan and I've been on Hive since June 2017. I am originally from UK and have been living Taiwan for four years till Covid bought me back to UK in 2020, hence the handle. Hive has been a big part of my life since I discovered it, and I'm fortunate that I've been well supported for my effort and dedication on the chain. Most of my time on Hive is dedicated to curating for OCD and my involvement in four different communities.

I've been part of the haveyoubeenhere and pinmapple team since it (and it's predecessor) started in 2017. We are the largest and most popular travel community on Hive. The Pinmapple map and haveyoubeenhere mobile app are our core features that bring travellers together. Our work is well recognised by many on Hive and gets support from 3 of the top 10 largest accounts on Hive, Blocktrades, theycallmedan and OCD. In addition, I have created my own communities. Three in fact! The first is Hi from Hive. Users can write (one time) about their Hive experience and journey and pin in on the Pinmapple map. The idea is that this can serve as a depository of Hive users personal testomonial sorted by location, and used to help onboard users around the world.

The second community is called Toys on Hive and is supported by OCD under the Community Incubation program. We have all played with toys when were young and often they bring back the happiest memories in our life. As we grow older, we buy toys for our children and pets, as well as ourselves, perhaps filling a void we missed out when we were young. All these are memories worth sharing in the community. And finally, my latest community is called The LooLoo Community, loo being a British english slang word for toilet. Most people have a negative connotation of toilets, but this little room at home is so important to everyone that I think it deserves it's own community on hive. This is a light hearted community aimed to bring fun to our life. It's unique on Hive as it is applicable to everyone around the world. We encourage people to share stories about any aspects of toilets in their countries.

The haveyoubeenhere and pinmapple community is already well established but our work doesn't stop here. Over the years, we have bought virtual travel to many users on Hive, and now during Covid, our purposes is even more crucial as people have less opportunity to travel. We hope and trust the community and our major supporters will continue to suppport us. The other three communities are less well developed and my aim is to put more focus on them now. I have deliberately chosen topics that everyone can participate - your Hive journey and experience, toys, and toilets. These are all things applicable to everyone even those who's native language is not English. My goal is to get more people to participate in these simple day to day communities so everyone can extend their reach to more users on Hive and grow their profile.
