HPUD | Monday 1 July 2024 | What's a Hive MAU Worth? | Changing Savings Plans

Reaching 2024 Savings Goals Early

Last week, I hit my major savings goals for 2024 and the remaining ones will happen organically. Checking the 2024 Plans I wrote in January, my idea is to build a kitty leading up to June 2025 (when I expect prices to start to rise) and from there I plan to recover my investment in Hive and its predecessor and put aside enough to double my stake when the price drops again.

Changing Savings Goals

I was interested in the post by @khaleelkazi estimating what an InLeo MAU is worth, something like 1,300 USD. I wondered what the equivalent Hive MAU is: I reckon about 7,850 USD or 6,200 GBP - (HIVE Market Cap/MAU). I took Market Cap as 94.0M USD (Coingecko, 30 June 2024) and MAUs as 12,000 regularly voting accounts, from this post by @dalz.

A new and very different savings goal would be attracting and retaining new users to Hive - at one a week, that would potentially increase the value of Hive, the thing we all want to grow, by 408,000 USD or 322,000 GBP. I ran a recent recruitment pilot at an economic justice Conference which gave me a good idea what's involved and the kind of support that people need. The level of engagement was very motivating, too.

I have some sorting out to do for the remainder of the year, plus getting my plans in place for recruiting new users, so I will probably start to implement this savings goal for 2025. It would be interesting to see if I could add half a million GBP to the value of Hive (80 new MAU). (I'm not sure how to assess that, given the constant fluctuations and variables)!

Ancillary Savings Goals

  • Continue to HPUD loose change each month, maximise resources.
  • Emergency Fund (this has taken a beating with the house improvements).
  • Cover housing improvements (of course, there's more things I want done).

Happy HPUD everyone!
