Traveling with a toddler is not at all easy. Spending a weekend get-away is another challenge. Before our baby, we used to travel with just one suitcase or a duffle bag and most of the stuff is mine, from make-ups to different outfits and different sandals or shoes. Now, whenever we go on vacation, all of our stuff is mostly for our baby, his milk bottles, diapers, baby food, his clothes, and all kinds of necessities, and that takes up a whole big suitcase!
Just last month, I got to spend a weekend off with my toddler and partner at Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark. I believe that it's good for toddlers to travel so they can adapt to changing situations and broaden their imagination about the world. Even if it's just going outside your backyard, you'll notice the difference in their reaction and behavior. When we arrived tat the resort, my baby was very curious, and quite excited where he even giggles right when he saw the photo of Pororo at the entrance of the resort.
After scouting several resorts in Cebu, only Jpark met our standards for an accessible, safe, fun, and kid-friendly get-away location. Even as the pandemic is slowly getting controlled, we had to ensure that we’re at the safest place especially since we have a baby and kids with us. Accessible
Going to Jpark is a breeze even if our home is a city away from it. We traveled for an hour and a half from Cebu City to Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City since we brought our nanny and her two daughters with us. We rented a private van a couple of days before our trip so we all could fit along with a few baby stuff. Jpark is even closer if flying to Cebu, it’s simply 15 mins away from the airport.
Making sure that necessities such as baby stuff, medicines, hospital care, and groceries are nearby and just a few minutes walk away is a number requirement when traveling with a baby. Jpark has all essential establishments nearby, just a 5-min walk away for when you ran out of milk or diaper or distilled water for baby’s milk bottle. On the second day, I quickly run by the nearby supermarket to buy baby essentials. I dropped by the pharmacy inside for some medicine and the baby’s water. Jpark charges for food bought outside. But is reasonable enough not to charge me for the essential stuff I bought.
Fun-filled and Family-friendly
Immediately upon arrival at Jpark, we noticed the bright, colorful, and animated atmosphere of the resort. It is ultimately a playground for kids. As a waterpark, you will not run out of pools to visit. There’s an Island pool, an Amazon river connected to a wave pool, a colorful toddler and kid’s pool, a Captain hook’s pool with an open body and tube slide for the adventurous, and the actual sandy beach that’s open from 6 am to 6 pm.

For activities, a single day would not be enough. In fact, you would need to use the Resort’s Free golf carts to get around. At the activity zone, you can start with indoor games such as board games and card gems, play at the pool tables and darts area, or read quietly at the mini-library.

From Mondays through Thursdays, the resort offers free and unlimited Go carts as well as free use of a mini golf and Giant cheese and soccer field. Our baby was particularly fond of the Dthrone electric cars. It can be rented for Php 250 for 30 mins. Luckily, there was a 30% off promo when we visited, so we ended up renting it twice since baby enjoys it too much. The Dthrone has space for adults to join and assist toddlers, so it’s really safe for kids.

While at first impression, Jpark is really intended for kids, it actually offers great leisure activities for adults too. There’s no offline spot throughout the entire resort. Wifi is free and immediately connects your device without having to log in. So if binge-watching is your thing, you better prep that Netflix playlist beforehand.
For offline fun, a cabana outdoor room is open for day use, an outdoor movie night is offered for free every Friday and Saturday from 6 pm to 8 pm, and a fitness gym is open for pre-booked use due to the need for physical distancing.

At first impression, Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark is really a playground for kids. Going there made me recover my child-like self while watching my own child play. To be able to spend the last days of summer here in the Philippines with my family at such a leisurely and fun-filled location is just a well-deserved break from more than a year of being stuck at home due to Covid-19 restrictions.
