I hope you are well or are trying to be well. I'm a little excited to share a special place with you today. Let's get started with a few photos that I think are good!
Today, we are going with you to a place that is difficult to reach but worth every minute. I'll tell you about my adventure in a moment.
A Tiny Note
First of all, it should be known that, unfortunately, it is very difficult to reach this ancient city except by private car or taxi. Since we travelled by big buses, the head guide agreed with the taxis in that region and brought 52 people to the ancient city by taxi. It was quite a difficult road. I was comfortable because I was sitting in the front of the taxi, but the friends in the back had a little trouble because of the shaking.
I would also like to add on my own behalf that the roads of the ancient city seemed very complicated to me. That's why I can't remember the order we visited clearly. As a solution, I will proceed by looking at the time of the photos I took. This seemed to be the most logical way.
There are many places to see in the city, and we are at a high altitude. I suggest you fasten your seat belts.

Carl Humann. If I remember correctly, the grave of this archaeologist and countless talented archaeologists is here.
In fact, although I don't like him much, we can say that he gave the Republic of Türkiye an ancient city, even if it was stolen. Surely you have heard the story of the Altar of Zeus in Germany, which was built especially for him. The altar, which they took piece by piece, does not fit into the building they planned and they build a completely different building suitable for the altar. Sad and shameful at the same time. In fact, this is not the first and not the last time that the altar was stolen in real terms, but then it was recognised as official with "constitutions".
In my heart I still have the pain of not being able to see that majestic altar. It is not at home, where it should be, and no one is doing anything by taking refuge in diplomatic things.
It is not a subject I want to gloss over by saying whatever, but I think I have to do it to prevent this piece from turning into a hate letter.
Anyway...
Ancient City Air
Coming to such a place on the first day of the Aegean region boosted my morale a lot, but at the same time I was motivated by my anger. It was energising to progress like this 24 hours after the 1-week pain of the Marmara region. I can say that even the weather was different.
Speaking of weather. I would like to show you a short video. I think the wind sound in this short video will help you to understand what kind of climate the city has.
Doesn't it have a breathtaking view? Of course, this is the case now, but if you didn't used to live on the border or in the acrapole, perhaps the only thing you could see other than this view were other houses.
I think the pieces of stone you see in the photo on the right can tell you a little bit about what I mean.
Altar
I won't say a word about it. You can find information about the Altar on the board. I won't add a link to Wikipedia because it is both incomplete and completely wrong.
I remember that this is the area where the altar is located. In the photo on the right, I wanted to show how steep and dangerous these parts are. I would like to make the warning I made in the previous part of the From All Over Türkiye series again. Wearing non-slip shoes with a collar to protect your ankles can save you from very difficult situations, even life-threatening situations.
Ancient Theatre
Let's go to what I think is the most beautiful, dangerous place you've seen on the cover photo.
The couple you see holding hands in the distance are my friends from university. Aren't they cute? They laughed a lot when I showed them this photo later, but I think they are very cute.
Anyway...
As you can see, this theatre is very steep and very big. It has a 33-degree angle and a capacity of 10 thousand people. Of course, I would like to share some information with you. In the past, the person capacity was not measured by the personal space we know. It was counted by sitting people with their shoulders touching each other and seeing how many people fit. It seemed like a very strange information to me, but even if you think it might be crowded when you were there, it didn't look like 10 thousand people. The fact that they reached this number in this way seemed very normal to me after I learnt it.
In this process, I had the threat of falling 4 or 5 times. Of course, I didn't have a partner to help me 😂 But after I got used to it and slowed down a little, everything got better.
I told you I take great selfies 😂 Anyway. Even if it's a small one, it's for a memory. It is impossible to stand there without a hat because it is very windy. Humming and cold are very bad. So when you go, you need to protect your ears and neck no matter what.

A Tiny Note of Information
At the bottom of the photo you can see a tiny hole. Do you know what this is? In the past, they used to put stones on top of each other and fill them with metals, such as iron and copper, into these tiny holes. In time, these precious metals were extracted again and used for something else or stolen. It's quite interesting. Even if you use a substance with a lower degree of heating than other metals, it does not change the fact that you have to heat a huge stone.
In fact, there are two of them here instead of one and the holes are a little wider than the other. Also, since this part is close to Aphrodisias, they believe that most of the stones may have come from there.
Acropolis
Although the remains of the avenue with columns look beautiful to the eye, it feels strange to know that people spent their daily lives in this area. You know, things that we say smell of history. Strangely, although it was open air, this ancient city smelled of history.
I can say that it was the easiest area to walk. BUT even here the stones were slowing me down. I am still surprised that I managed not to fall in this city.
Since I don't want to go into technical information and historical details with you again, I skip them, otherwise this writing will be no different from Herodotus' History.

Bugün sizinle birlikte ulaşması zor olan ama her dakikasına değecek bir yere gidiyoruz. Bunun ile ilgili maceramı da birazdan anlatacağım.
Minik Bir Not
İlk önce bilinmesi gereken bir şey var ki ne yazık ki bu antik kente özel araç veya taksi dışında ulaşım çok zor. Biz büyük otobüslerle seyehat ettiğimizden dolayı baş rehber o bölgede bulunan taksilerle anlaştı ve 52 kişiyi taksilerle antik kente getirdiler. Oldukça zorlu bir yoldu. Ben takside öne oturduğumdan dolayı rahattım fakat arkadaki arkadaşlar biraz sorun yaşadılar sarsıntıdan dolayı.
Bir de kendi adıma eklemek isterim ki antik kentin yolları çok karışık geldi bana. Bu yüzden de gezdiğimiz sıralamayı net olarak hatırlayamıyorum. Çözüm olarak ise çektiğim fotoğrafların saatine bakarak ilerleyeceğim. En mantıklı yol bu gibi göründü.
Kent içerisinde görülecek çok fazla yer var ve yüksek bir rakımdayız. Kemerlerinizi bağlamanızı öneririm.

Carl Humann. Eğer yanlış hatırlamıyorsam bu arkeolog ve daha onlarca işte emeği olan adamın mezarı burada.
Aslında kendisini pek sevmesem de Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ne, çalınsa dahi, bir antik kent kazandırmış diyebiliriz. Şu anda Almanya'da, adına özellikle yapılmış, Zeus Altarı'nın hikâyesini elbet duymuşssunuzdur. Parça parça götürdükleri altar planladıkları binaya sığmıyor ve altara uygun bambaşka bir bina yapıyorlar. Üzücü, aynı zamanda da utanç verici. Gerçeği bu ilk ve son da değil gerçek anlamda çalınan fakat sonrasında "anayasa"larla resmi saydırılan.
Kalbimde hâlâ o heybetli altarı görememenin acısı var anlayacağınız. Evinde, olması gereken yerde değil ve diplomatik şeylere sığınarak kimse bir şey yapmıyor.
Neyse diyerek geçiştirmek istediğim bir konu değil fakat bu yazının bir nefret mektubuna dönüşmesini engellemek için yapmam gerekiyor sanırım.

Antik Kent Havası
Ege bölgesinin ilk gününde böyle bir yere gelmek moralimi çok yükseltti ama aynı zamanda da sinirimden motive de oldum. Marmara bölgesinin 1 haftalık acısının üzerinden 24 saat geçmeden böyle ilerlemek enerji yenileyiciydi. Havası bile farklıydı diyebilirim.
Hava demişken de. Size minik bir video göstermek isterim. Bu minik videodaki rüzgâr sesi size kentin nasıl bir iklime sahip olduğunu anlatma konusunda oldukça yardımcı olacaktır diye düşünüyorum.
Nefes kesici bir manzaraya sahip değil mi? Tabii bu durum şu anda böyle fakat eskiden sınırda veya akrapolde yaşamıyorduysanız bu manzara dışında görebileceğiniz tek şey diğer evlerdi belki de.
Sağdaki fotoğrafta gördüğünüz taş parçaları sanırım size ne demek istediğimi az da olsa anlatabilir.
Altar
Bu konuda ağzımı bile açmayacağım. Altar ile ilgili bilgiye panodan bakabilirsiniz. Wikipedia linki eklemeyeceğim çünkü hem eksik hem de tamamıyla yanlış bilgiler var.
Bu kısmın altarın bulunduğu alan olduğunu hatırlıyorum. Sağdaki fotoğrafta ise bu kısımların ne kadar dik ve tehlikeli olduğunu göstermek istedim. Türkiye'nin Dört Bir Yanından serisinin bir önceki bölümünde yaptığım uyarıyı yine yapmak isterim. Bileklerinizi koruyacak boğazlı kaydırmaz ayakkabılar giymek sizi çok zor durumlardan, hatta hayatınızın riske girmesi durumlarından kurtarabilir.
Antik Tiyatro
Hadi gelelim bence en güzel, tehlikeli ve kapak fotoğrafında gördüğünüz yere.
Uzakta elele tutuşarak indiğini gördüğünüz çift benim üniversiteden arkadaşlarım. Çok tatlılar değil mi? Onlara sonradan bu fotoğrafı gösterdiğimde çok güldüler ama bence çok tatlılar.
Neyse.
Bu tiyatro gördüğünüz gibi çok dik ve çok büyük. 33 dereceklik açısı ve 10 bin kişilik kapasitesi ile oldukça büyük. Tabii sizinle bir bilgi paylaşmak isterim. Eskiden kişi kapasitesi bizim bildiğimiz kişisel alan ile ölçülmüyordu. İnsanları omuzları birbirine değecek şekilde oturtup kaç kişi sığdığına bakarak sayılıyordu. Oldukça garip bir bilgi gibi görünmüştü bana fakat oradayken kalabalık olabileceğini düşünseniz bile 10 bin kişilik gibi durmuyordu. Bu şekilde bu sayıya ulaşmış olmaları ise bana çok normal göründü öğrendikten sonra.
Bu süreçte ise 4 ya da 5 kere düşme tehlikesi geçirdim. Tabii benim bir eşim yoktu bana yardım edecek 😂 Ama alıştıktan ve biraz yavaşladıktan sonra her şey güzelleşti.
Harika selfi çektiğimi söylemiştim 😂 Neyse. Minik de olsa bir anı olması için. Çok rüzgâr olduğundan dolayı şapkasız orada durmak imkânsız. Uğultu ve soğuk çok kötü. Bu yüzden gittiğiniz zaman ne olursa olsun kulaklarınızı ve boynunuzu da korumanız gerekiyor.

Minik Bir Bilgi Notu
Hemen fotoğrafın alt kısmında görüdüğünüz minik bir oyuk var. Bunun ne olduğunu biliyor musunuz peki? Eskiden üst üste koydukları taşların bir birine kaynadığını bu minik oyukların içerisine maden, demir ve bakır gibi, doldurarak yapıyorlarmış. Zamanla ise bu değerli madenler tekrar çıkarılıp başka bir şey için kullanılır veya çalınırmış. Oldukça ilginç. Isınma derecesi diğer metallere göre daha düşük bir madde kullansanız bile kocaman bir taşı ısıtmanız gerektiği gerçeğini değiştirmiyor.
Hatta bakın burada bir yerine iki tane var ve delikler diğerine göre biraz daha geniş. Ayrıca bu kısım Afrodisyas'a yakın olduğundan dolayı çoğu taşın oradan gelmiş olabileceğine inanıyorlar.
Akropolis
Sütunlu caddeden kalanlar her ne kadar göze güzel görünse de insanların bu bölgede günlük yaşamlarını geçirdiklerini bilmek garip hissettiriyor. Tarih kokar dediğimiz şeyler olur ya. Garip bir şekilde, açık hava olmasına rağmen bu antik kent tarih kokuyordu.
Yürümesi en kolay bölgeydi diyebilirim. AMA burada dahi taşlar beni yavaşlatıyordu. Bu kentte düşmemeyi başarmış olmama hâlâ şaşkınım.
