Hiya Splinterlanders :)
I have to be honest with you, last week I was so sick, that I couldn't even track any news related to Splinterlands Ecosystem. I hope I will be better soon and catch up. In the meantime, I tried to play some tournaments and brawls, but with a runny nose, sneezing, and an enormous headache is not a simple task :).
So today we try to stick to the topic - strange commons ruleset where you can use rare cards :)
Description:
Only common and rare units may be used in battles.
Summoners are unaffected by this rule.
Firstly, the description of the ruleset in the game is not perfect, sometimes you get just general information which does not give you all the information you need. The best way to read the full description as above from the game documentation at least once. You can check all here.
I seriously encourage you guys to check this site, even more advanced players could find something interesting there.
I wonder if in the past that ruleset works only for commons. It's quite interesting that with Rise of the Commons we still can use rare cards. Despite that fact, we have quite an ordinary limitation ruleset. Hmm, funny thing, I have just checked and it's another Battle Mage Secret with the same ruleset. I will talk about it in the summary section. Here, as before nothing else can be said. We use lower power level cards, sometimes it's good practice to go with them, and because my collection is still limited sometimes I have better chances to win versus OG player, like in the battle below :).
So let's check our battle:
Today's battle is an older battle from the Silver level tournament. My opponent is one of the best players in Silver League @omg-sp1 , who scored maximum points in our YGG e-sport league last season. That could be interesting :).
I think the rulesets here defined the battle. Are you not Entertained? allows us to use one gladiator card and this could be the key for the battle. I chose a very solid Death team, more about it analysis section. The only card I'm not a big fan of my team is the last sneak monster, Vruz is perfect here, but I couldn't use him. Snipe ruleset forced both players to use martyr card as a first target, quite common strategy nowadays.
For my opponent's team Kitty of course is very strong, 28 mana is not the perfect amount for her, but still, she is just too OP :). The opponent chose Death Monster as well, focused more on melee damage. Let's check if that was the correct choice.
Round 2, our heavy magic team was strong enough to kill both snipe target monsters, (with the help of HP debuff from Thadius). We didn't lose anything. Of course, the opponent is still strong, with those martyr buffs.
Round 3, we had so unlucky 2 misses with higher speed Windeku (that Kitty). Otherwise battle could be almost over. Now we still have an advantage, we got Bloodlust buff for our main damage dealer and still all monsters on the battlefield.
Final Blow - In round 4, during round 3 finally opponent killed our Windeku and with trample damage targeted the next unit. But it's just too late. Our strong magic team didn't care about armor, and easily killed that nasty trampler. We beat OMG-SP1 Kitty team :)
As I mentioned above, if you have a chance to use gladiator cards, you should usually do that. Even common and rare are just too strong to ignore them. I think that was the main mistake of the opponent. The team was strong, but missing one element. The opponent tried to rely on healing from Kitty and strong buffed units in the front. Fortunately, we had additional armor protection, which you should know already how important it is :).
One more thing I want to mention, in my opinion, Death Splinter has one of the best commons/rares cards with good synergy. In today's battle choice was very limited :), but in general I choose the death team more often than other splinter for Rise of the Commons ruleset.
Let's check our key monster choices:
Winning versus one of the best players in the game is always some achievement :). And I think rulesets like Rise of the Commons help a lot with that, with some collection limitations. In general, I like more complex rulesets that change some dynamics of the battlefield, but as I mentioned in a previous article about the same ruleset it's still an interesting idea.
And yes, as you can see that was the same Ruleset article, and it was not so long time ago. I don't know if is the mistake of the Splinterlands team, or just ran out of the ruleset already :). I have suggested a few times already, that it could be a good idea to change the format. It's my 45th strategy article, a few first was focused on one of the monsters, rest are about specific rulesets. I think we have enough different kinds of articles about them on Hive already. Let's try something new :)
What is your opinion about it?
I hope you like this kind of report, battle, and strategy presentation. More strategy analysis, discussion, and prediction games you can find on my Wednesday Twitch Channel stream. There will be schedule soon :)

We continue our game from the previous week, today new battle, new card to win :).
I come up with some ideas, I hope you will like them and participate. Every week I will publish one battle, and your goal is to point out the first victim of the battle and who will be the winner. This game is exactly the same as my prediction game which I run on my Wednesday Splinterlands.tv stream. I know that not everyone can attend the stream, so I hope you will still have fun in that way. More about the rules can be read here.
Among all participants who get the correct answer, I will randomly (probably on my Wednesday stream) choose one winner.
The prize of the blog prediction game for the lucky winner will be the epic card:
Here we got the battle:
Game instruction:
Try to point out which monster will die first on the battlefield and who wins the battle
- t - top player
- b - bottom player
- number - order counting from the first position
Examples:
t2b = monster on the second position of top player dies first, the bottom player wins
b6t = monster on the sixth position of bottom player dies first, the top player wins
t3t = monster on the third position of top player dies first, the top player wins
