REBELLION UNLEASHED: EXPLORING THE ARMORED STRIKE ABILITY!

Let me start this blog post by offering my heartfelt congratulations to the @splinterlands team for their impending announcement of the fifth core edition - REBELLION! Despite the challenging journey they've undertaken to bring the game to its current state, the team has tenaciously tackled various obstacles, navigated the prevailing bear market, and is now launching their most ambitious card set release to date. This release will introduce several entirely new elements to Splinterlands gameplay which will no doubt be enhancing the player's engagement in the game 👏

The REBELLION set will comprise a total of 96 cards, featuring two limited-edition promo cards exclusively available during the REBELLION presale. Additionally, there will be nine Legendary airdrop cards distributed through a completely new system, encouraging players to retain their REBELLION packs and cards to unlock these rewards.

Based on the presently available information, the introduction of REBELLION brings forth a plethora of new elements to the game. As is customary with any new release, acclimating to the inclusion of new Monster cards necessitates some time as it shifts the dynamics of battles. However, beyond these new Monster cards, there are also forthcoming introductions such as New Abilities, Multi-Element Summoners, and Summoner Tactics.

Here's a quick overview of some of these changes.

New Abilities

Multi-Element Summoners & Summoner Tactics

To be honest, grappling with the simultaneous introduction of all these modifications can be rather daunting. Therefore, the arrival of REBELLION is sure to bring about a substantial transformation in the way battles are waged, potentially rendering our established strategies less effective 😕

Ability Focus

Without further ado, let's dive straight into the topic I'd like to explore in this week's Social Media Challenge post that is in a brand new format as it centers on the REBELLION. Starting with this post, I shall initiate our discussion with the Armored Strike ability among the four new abilities that are being introduced.

Armored Strike

As outlined in the Splinterlands team's details, the Armored Strike ability empowers Monsters to gain an ADDITIONAL Melee attack through the utilization of their Armor stat. This presents characters with a unique avenue to wield lethal force, permitting them to channel the power of their gauntlets, shields, and helmets, as well as leverage physical attributes like spikes and hard shells, effectively turning defensive elements into offensive weaponry.

I couldn't quite understand how this mechanic will work, as it was described in the official post as "gains an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using its Armor stat". I imagine it will be a trade-off: the Monster will "spend" Armor points and, in return, will deal more melee damage. It sounds interesting, and I am looking forward to how this would be implemented into the gameplay during battle.

Here are some of the obvious traits that this ability would have:

  • Armored Strike ability would only be present in Monster with Melee attacks

  • Armored Strike ability would only be present in Monster with Armor stats

  • Armored Strike ability would not work in the Unprotected ruleset

  • Armored Strike ability would not be present in the Keep Your Distance ruleset

If I've grasped the mechanics of this ability correctly, does it imply that we have the option to exchange Armor stats for an initial increase in Melee attack when the battle commences? The practical execution of this concept puzzles me 🤔

I'm contemplating the potential strength boost for these three Melee Monsters belonging to the Chaos Legion if they were to acquire the Armored Strike ability, particularly considering their natural possession of high Armor stats! 😵

Additionally, I'm pondering whether there might be a beneficial synergy between abilities like Protect, which bestows Armor stats to the team, and the Armored Strike ability. Conversely, I'm curious about how the Shattering ability, which dismantle all the Armor stats of the target Monster, might potentially undermine the effectiveness of the Armored Strike ability.

What do you guys think about the Armored Strike ability? Am I understanding it correctly? 😅

It has been years since the invasion of Chaos and the rise of an Empire. The cries of anguish have been replaced with the silence of oppression.

And yet...there are whispers of rebellion. The Defiant are gathering in the secret places, and a single word is fervently uttered in the dark alleys, rural homesteads, taverns, caves, and towns across Praetoria..

VONAK.

Together, We Rise.

Isn't this write up incredibly thrilling? It filled me with great excitement as I looked forward to the release of the REBELLION set! 😍

But could someone kindly explain to me the meaning of VONAK? 😅
