Diary of An Apple : A Lazy Day That Turned Out To Be Productive

Hi! Hello! πŸ‘‹

Today's Diary

It's been a while since I stayed home on a weekend. These last few months, I don't think there was ever a weekend I didn't go out to do some errands, meet with friends, and just look around Tokyo. I told myself I was going top take it slow today and just be lazy. I had a planned meeting this evening with some workmates but it's not even something work-related.

For background, earlier this month I joined a competition in the company I am working. I don't really know anyone outside the project I belong to so I teamed with up with the same people from my team. We are supposed to create a line follower model using machine learning and tomorrow's the deadline. So today we have to finish everything and decide the fastest model we need to use for the physical race on Tuesday. It's also my first time with machine learning so please don't ask me about it 😭

Anyway, I woke up at around 9am this morning. But since it's supposed to be a slow day, I just stayed on the bed and watched baking and cooking reels on instagram. I only got up during lunch time because I was hungry and just made the laziest meal, some left over rice with fried egg and tuna.

After lunch I got ready for the day and cleaned up the house a bit. I didn't even put so much effort but I finished quickly, unlike when I had to force my self and then I end up taking more time.

I have so much time today I don't know what to do, so I experimented some bread. I bought an instant pot a few months ago so I did a bit of research and wanted to try if I could proof bread in it. This is my second experiment to proof bread in the instant pot, but I still haven't figured out the best settings use. Although the bread didn't came out as expected, it also didn't take too much effort for me to make. I'll share on a separate blog my experiment once I get my expected outcome, of course taste is part of the criteria. For now, here's what the bread looked like today.

After baking I still have a bit of time before dinner, so I went out to get groceries. My usual groceries would cost me about 5000yen for about a week or 2, but today I think I bought too much so I paid almost double my usual. But I always tell myself it's okay long as I didn't use the money to hurt myself or anyone. I always try to buy things in bulk when available to save time and also because I do meal prepping. My first meal prep blog can be found here. I do plan to blog my meal preps in the future so please stay tuned.

It was a bit chilly outside and looks like it's about to rain. So I craved for some soup. I saw some pork ribs and remembered I have a lot sinigang packets at home so I decided I'll make sinigang. When I got back, my house is still a bit humid due to the leftover heat from baking hahaha so I opened my windows and gradually it became cooler. I immediately made sinigang as all I can think about is some hot soup. And once cooked, I dove right in. πŸ˜†

Meal time

While finishing my dinner, I thought to myself, although I didn't put too much thought into what I did today, it's still a slow day today as planned. But at the same time it's turning out to be a productive day. I didn't feel like I forced myself into doing chores and errands and did everything leisurely. So I guess it's not a bad thing to do this once on a while.

I still have a few more hours left before my meeting tonight so I decided to blog this day. And while I'm writing this I started working on my model just so I can show off to my team mates if I'll ever get to make it work before the meeting πŸ˜† I may or may not share the results of the race once it's out later.

But anyway, sometimes breaking from the usual and taking a break is as important as keeping ourselves disciplined. I hope you enjoyed today's diary. I think that is all for today.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog.

Apple
