Kanpai~ with us at Seishin Izakaya

You already knew it, didn't you, where my today's post was gonna take you.. Before that let's take a little Japanese vocabulary...

In Japanese, kanpai (also transliterated as “kampai”) is written with the Chinese characters 乾杯. 乾 means “dry” and 杯 means “sake cup,” so an approximate translation is something like, “drink your cup dry.”

So, today's post is gonna be about an Izakaya aka the Japanese bar, that is located here in Bangkok, Thailand. This drinking area is called "The Coco Walk". I've always enjoyed Izakaya, since I love Japanese food and a little drink can't hurt a girl, right?

The place is called Seishin Izakaya. It just opened a couple of months ago and we love coming here for dinner and drinks. In Bangkok, these Izakaya just became more and more popular with time.

Izakaya (居酒屋) are casual drinking establishments, similar to tapas bars, where customers order a variety of small dishes of food that can be shared at the table. They are one of the most common restaurant types in Japan and a popular spot for friends or coworkers to meet up for a drinking party or to wind down after work.

I love the decoration of the place. The logo of a ninja wolf and the lights made me feel a little tipsy and wanna get drunk. That's one good indicator to tell me if I wanna have a drink there or not.

It made me happy when people also enjoyed and welcomed this place.

We sat down and looked at the menu. Our favorite thing about this place is, of course the free-flow beer. And I guess I don't have to tell you what we got for a drink. lol, We definitely had to go with the one that's the cheapest and that we'll get to receive as much quantity as possible. Free flow for almost 400 THB (like 11 USD).

And here, let's get our party started.. The small glass of beer and a tiny jelly vodka. But don't you get fooled by how small they looked, because it's a free flow, so we kept it coming!

Now, the drinks are never enough without the foooooooooooood. We start with my favorite Tako Wasabi. As I mentioned in My Beloved Sushi Place in Bangkok, this is my favorite dish to have at a Japanese place. This one was a little too much wasabi. Still, it's cheap.

Then I got salmon sashimi. Raw fish is just how I like it. Salmon sashimi of Seishin is only around 150 THB (or 5 USD) and it has this nice fat line. Love it!

Another sashimi that I love eating is squid sashimi. It's easy to eat and honestly, it doesn't taste fishy or anything.

We got the BBQ on the sticks: chicken thighs with spring onions and shrimp. That's one long shrimp. This dish is served with salt, fried garlic, and a wasabi ball.

For the main dishes, we had Unagi Don, which is Unagi with fried garlic Japanese rice. This one is good too. They always served it with a special sweet sauce and now with rice is a good combination. and look how juicy it looked, guys~

Unagi Don (Unadon) is an umami-packed rice bowl featuring broiled Japanese eel dressed in unagi sauce. Serve over steamed rice and top with nori, sesame seeds, and scallions. Make this delicious donburi for a quick dinner with homemade or store-bought unagi sauce.

The last main dish is Salmon head boiled with soy sauce. This is exactly why I like this place so much because this menu is not very easy to find. And they cooked it nicely too.

I know this is not very common but I love eating fish's head (as I mention in Is 500 Bath ( 17 US Dollars) Fish Porridge worth it?) and all the parts like eyes and their gills. So this dish is just what I'm looking for.
