The tick to make paintings look exciting and appealing is to play warm colours against cool colours.

I think artists are tuned in emotionally to see beauty, even in the most ordinary places, hey?!

Part of the secret of making scenes moody, is to blur most of the scene, except for the main points of interest.

New artists tend to try too hard to make their paintings perfect. But once they loosen up, their work starts to look better.
