Today,I had my first session of power yoga. And believe me, it was so refreshing...
That gave me an idea to post about power yoga.
There are many different concepts of power yoga according to different trainers.
The original power yoga was found and developed by Beryl Bender Birch
Power yoga "is a general term used to describe a vigorous, fitness based approach to traditional contemporary yoga."
With the development of power yoga, people started to see yoga as a way to workout, which took the traditional yoga at a different level.
Benefits
- Power yoga is an intense workout that will make you sweat which leads to detoxification.
- Traditional yoga is ideal for flexibility and meditation but power yoga increases strength also.
- Power yoga, when practiced regularly, improves stability, balance, posture and tone, thus reduces back pain .
- Power yoga tones your body without stressing your joints which is a plus point for older people.
- Power yoga improves blood flow and boosts immune system.
- Power yoga promotes weight loss and increases basal metabolic rate.
- Improves quality of sleep.
- increases concentration and memory.
Side effects
Yoga has many beneficial effect when the poses are performed correctly.
Even there can be some side effects when not practiced properly.
- The most common side effect is physical injury such as wrist pain, neck pain, back pain, ankle pain, knee pain etc..
- If yoga poses are not performed correctly, it may lead to serious gastric trouble, nausea, vomiting.
- Warm up must be performed before starting power yoga to avoid pulling of muscles and ligament tear.
- Side effects may be mental also, such as menal instability due to over practicing incorrect yoga.
