This month at A’mara Books:
Okay, so it’s a whole month this time… I didn’t feel like fighting it before now.
Rather, I was busy finishing up my next book for you!
I’ve fallen off Curie radar and Whaleshares has pretty much self-destructed following HF4 (I’m still waiting in hope, but I’m not holding my breath), so curation has dropped noticeably there. Even Hyperspace has suddenly dropped off the face of the Earth as of this past week. So, for me anyway, that leaves Steem and WeKu (though I will continue to crosspost on Whaleshares until my current powerdown ends – at which point I will reexamine everything.) Steem support continues to be strong, especially for my non-story posts. Does that mean people find the others more interesting than my stories? Hard to say… or maybe the current one was simply too long for Steem…
Anyway, all told, in October, I wrote:
Over 26,000 words! (Or about 6600/week)
This is a slower pace than I normally like to set for myself, but there’s a reason for it.
- Pawn of the Neví received the majority of these words, around 14,000 to bring it to a final of about 46,000 words.
Writing prompts, Dark romance shorts and a bit on Neví 6 received the remainder.
Beyond that, I was working on…
Finishing Pawn of the Neví
After finishing the main draft, I worked on the cover image for a few days and then returned to do my read-aloud proofread/edit.
I am still working on the map of Ilim City which is required for this book as well as some of the end materials. Hopefully, it will be ready when Game of the Neví ends – end of this week, I think.
One quick word of warning if you’ve got used to me skirting around NSFW issues a bit, Pawn of the Neví is a lot more intense, delving deeper into the world of the Balan and Yerdua than I ever have before. You can skip over the NSFW chapters if you wish, but you will miss out on some plot points if you do.
Nanowrimo
The November challenge is upon us. As I have finished Pawn of the Neví, I can actually do it. Some of my time the past two weeks has been doing preparation work for Nano. I already knew which book needed to be written, and truthfully, I’ve cheated slightly in that two writing prompts from the past month will be used for it. So, I began with 2500 words, though they still need to be tied into the rest of the story.
Some of the preparation work has been in areas such as character development and location development. It’s been exciting work that will hopefully pay dividends as I write. (If it does, you can bet I will be doing this more in the future.)
Cover image
Once again, I have a series of posts about the creation of the cover image for Pawn of the Neví – I started with DAZ 3D Studio again, moved to GIMP and finished with Photoscape. Here is my result:
You can see how I made it in this series:
part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5.
Coming in November
- Pawn of the Neví on Steem.
- epublishing everything that needs to be published!
- maybe start serializing on WeKu – though I want to redo the covers for the first set if I’m going to do this. Just need to create an image of a caballus to get that one started...

829-835 T.C.E. In this series, the Neví begin their rise in power with the completion of several large housing projects that seem totally charitable, but also hide a great evil within. The draconian measures (829 T.C.E.) have caused major distress throughout the world, perfect for giving the Neví a further foothold on the Terrenden stage. Will the A’mara, now removed from the Council of Peers, be able to shut down the Neví before disaster strikes? Titles include: Birth of the Neví, Name of the Neví, Mind of the Neví, Game of the Neví, more to come... |
**(To be Named)** - 852 T.C.E. Collection of Romance... It's confirmed that the Neví are now in all three houses of Parliament and most assemblies throughout Terrenden. Additionally, some are threatening to introduce legislation to severely cripple the A'mara of all their privileges.
In this collection, we will catch up with our fugitives (Iyva/Zilan, D'zani/Elíaz). We will also meet Celna Dellan in X'lea; Peri Harmon, a Peer Councilor in Irola; Janys Tyne, an elections team leader in Atrua; meet a nice (as of yet unnamed) woman in Kasago; and revisit Vissia and Catalia in Towani. |
