The Way We Treat Animals

Recently, an experience with my neighbor really showed me how cruel humans can be to animals, even in a passive manner.

Treating animals with respect is simply basic human kindness. Yet, many people don't seem to be capable of doing so. Having a pet is inviting a living being into your home to, hopefully, share your favorite chair with them, play with them, and make sure they're healthy and fed. There's no need to treat animals with malice or neglect them.

Bringing a pet into the home is a choice we make, not the animal. A pet suffering in your home is one of the most shameful acts I can think of.

Here's a defenseless innocent animal that is trapped in your home and unable to survive since, you know, it's a home and not the pet's natural habitat. If someone is incapable of taking care of a pet they need to responsibly take it to a shelter or give it to someone who will properly care for it, not leave it to fend for itself in an environment it will die in.

Don't even get me started on how humans treat other humans...
