I spent the last 4 years filming everything on a DSLR pretty much and then i reached a point where my Canon 5D just didn't cut it anymore. Now i'm a firm believer that the camera isn't the defining factor of a production. It all comes down to your vision and how you tell your story when filming, I also didn't just jump straight from a DSLR to the URSA i have filmed on various cameras from Sony FS7's, RED cameras and many more. However i wanted a camera body i could just experiment with while still giving me ridiculously good image quality and here it is, i still have to rig it out yet but this beauty films in 4.6K up to 60fps oh and did i forget to mention it films in a plethora of different film codecs from all the different variations of ProRes and even cinema DNG RAW internally.
Online this camera gets slated because of its predecessors i mean they were bad but they were cheap so it goes hand in hand. However with this version they've fixed all the little niggles other than the shape of the camera it could of done with a few more physical buttons but on set it's not bad once you are used to it.
Did i mention the image of this camera is just beautiful, uploading videos to vimeo, youtube or dtube just doesn't do it justice you have to view the video of this cameras full screen on a huge TV to really see how amazing the image looks of this camera.
As of now i've not really filmed much on this camera other than a few weddings although this is far from a wedding camera. It is impractical for shooting on all day as its bloody heavy and it munches through CFast cards like a fat kid through candy. I'm hoping to film a lot more cooler stuff away from weddings on this but here are a few videos shot on this camera, what do you all think.
