The Value Plan project has been gaining ground for all of Hive this year and it is time to review the first part of the year and to refresh its proposal.
There are several major conferences coming up between now and Q4 which include the very first North American HiveFest, to be held in Mexico in September. Two other North American conferences in the US are also in the works and partially set up already.
On the European side we are looking for more engaging opportunities and will likely see a conference in Amsterdam and potentially in the UK coming up. Those are not fully developed yet in terms of engagement and we'll announce them once things are known.
In LATAM and in Africa we are planning for Q4 for the most part. There is a Hive-focused conference planned for Ghana in December. In either October or November we'll take our usual place in the massive Caracas Blockchain Week conference which we had great results with last year.
Events in Asia are ongoing but no large conferences are expected so far. This may change at any moment as we are now finding ourselves a regular recipient of invitations.
Overview
Your Value Plan keyholders as always are @theycallmedan, @smooth, @guiltyparties, @crimsonclad and @blocktrades. Project management is carried out by @crimsonclad and @guiltyparties.
The project scope includes promotional, marketing, impact and task-based activities that support Hive and its ecosystem as a whole. Activities may be major or minor. Project costs such as logistics and merchandise fit within the scope.
We take project management and quality control very seriously. All lineitems are continuously scrutinized and we employ a cyclical feedback model of communication.

Coming Up
Meetups
The greatest Hive meetup is obviously HiveFest which will take place in Rosarito, Mexico this year. It is shaping up to be a phenomenal event with lots of exciting activities that everyone can enjoy. We look forward to meeting old friends and new on the pristine Rosarito beaches this September!
Smaller meetups are regularly scheduled and we are looking forward to more of them taking place outside of LATAM to ensure an even distribution. Of course, all such activities are inclusive of non-Hive members, as per scope.
Conferences
Two big American conferences fast-approaching are Breathe! in Las Vegas and Rare Evo in Colorado. Both will see a strong emphasis on promotion of the Hive ecosystem in its entirety and a focus on the fine work by Hive dapps. Partial costs have already been issues for these events fortunately and now it's a matter of ensuring that the planning phase proceeds on schedule and there are no unexpected delays. Logistic-wise these two events will be a challenge due to the size of the country and how far Hive representatives will have to travel.
Rally Races
WRC rally Greece and Central Europe are coming up in the Fall. Preparations and registrations are far ahead of the events. We have learned several valuable lessons in the previous rallies and will put them into play in the next two. These two rallies will conclude this year's schedule.
What we need to focus on in the next rallies is maximizing the marketing impact by not only relying on the WRC media exposure, which is massive, but also by contributing ourselves to ensure proper propagation of the material through various channels.
Activities
There are myriad activities coming up that are in the works all over the world. There are probably too many to list here and they are always evolving. We have built a good niche in sports sponsorships which now include activities in Portugal.
We are also taking a focus on smaller events where possible. Localized conferences and thematic tech-focused gatherings are always on the table, with a constant flow of them in LATAM and Asia in particular.

Challenges
Nothing in this world comes easy to a decentralized ecosystem like Hive. But nothing is so difficult that we cannot overcome it together.
External Obstacles
This year hasn't been without its challenges so far. We remain positive because we can't dwell on things we can't control. In challenging times we must show a positive resolve and push on ahead against the current.
We are working against a terrible market which we hope has seen the bottom come in already but anything is possible. The problem is, we can't sit back and do nothing. We can't sit and wait as we'll be forgotten while everyone else is pushing ahead regardless. We have some of the best and most innovative tech out there and if no one knows about it, if we're not knocking on every door out there, it will never see its full potential.
The Hive protocol is by far superior to many competing solutions out there. It has the inherent benefit of stability guaranteed by true decentralization. It's also one of a few where its impact can be seen both in terms of tangible and intangible results. As Hive is owned by the entire community, individuals all over the world can leverage it to make transformative impacts in their local areas. Those impacts will outlast any technology, including Hive, because they positively influence generations to come.
Internal Obstacles
The biggest obstacle which is an obstacle of our own making has been onboarding. This has now been resolved with the creation of a specialized frontend for events. It is currently being tested in terms of feedback and adjustment and will be then released open-sourced for public use.
The onboarding site works with pre-printed tickets which are then given to visitors for a free account. The first pilot of the tickets had them attached to photos that visitors took of themselves with the Hive rally car or booth at Web3 Berlin. The visitors also received a digital gift from Splinterlands, a small delegation for transactions and a HiveBuzz badge. Unfortunately the event saw fewer visitors making their way to the floor than expected and we will be testing and adjusting the process in the near future. Ideas for innovative ways to physically distribute the tokens are welcome.
A secondary event onboarding site was created by the Hive Creators team and launched first in Spanish and now in English. It uses a different process and token system. It was likewise successful and tested in Ghana where 170 signups were made.
With this, we have removed a primary source of stress from future event management.
Transactions
Current to June 20, 2023
As always we present the full list of transactions that the project has issued. The bulk of all costs has been either sponsorships or merchandise. Hive merchandise in particular must always be of a high level of quality as it represents all of us. Unfortunately due to shipping costs of both finished products and raw materials we have seen steep price increases which thankfully have somewhat stabilized.
All projects present detailed spreadsheets with line items for each purchase and deliverable. All line items are scrutinized and reduced where possible. Where a line item exceeds the expected average cost it is removed or another vendor is found.
Please note that it is not advised to scrutinize projects by looking at the receiving accounts because often those are either cold wallets, project accounts, or accounts that are receiving funds in one wallet but drawing funds from another. This is particularly true in locations where complex conversions to local currencies are required, such as Europe. It is recommended to scrutinize projects on a holistic project basis.
Also note that some projects receive a lot of smaller transactions and some receive larger bulk sums. This is due to whether the costs incurred by a project are variable or fixed. For example, rally costs or borehole drilling costs are fixed costs as we know that this is what this activity costs and will always cost bar inflation. Meanwhile, something like SWC will always have variable costs as every venue has different requirements and additional opportunities come up sporadically during events.

Google Sheets - Value Plan 2023
Note that the values in the spreadsheet are year to date.
Unexpected Expenses
Unexpected expenses outside of the usual needs for extra logistics of merchandise typically fall into two categories: security and medical.
We always try to ensure that security in every form, be it fraud prevention in contracts or security of Hive members, is central to our activities. Unfortunately at times there are situations beyond our control. Recently in Colombia our SWC athlete transport vehicle was stopped by the local police and extorted for 100 HBD. In Italy, our rally car team had approximately 300 HBD charged by a vendor in violation of contract (this matter is in dispute right now with the vendor company). We take all instances very seriously.
When a Hive community member is injured at a conference or another type of Hive event we must, acting in good faith, provide emergency care where care cannot be obtained free of charge. We have had two instances of this occurring, one at a conference and another at an athletic tournament, and in both times we reacted with due urgency and ensured the person received immediate care. We do not deal with any long-term care of any kind as that is beyond our control and reasonable responsibility.
Our goal is to ensure we have no such expenses going forward.
Analytics YTD
These values are year to date.
This time we decided rather than focusing on topical categories we are going to approach the metrics on a country basis.
Please note that these values do not fully represent the incurred costs as some transactions have not yet been tabulated and processed. Web3 Berlin (Germany) costs are not in in full yet and are still being tabulated, for example.
Venezuela is still at the top for now due to several large projects, including the Hive Sucre project which is piloting Hive B2B (business to business) engagement and conversions. This is a very tightly controlled project from which we are looking forward to insightful KPIs once a review of all participating businesses is complete.
The distribution between continents is projected to even up as time goes on. In part this is because of high costs of North American and European events as opposed to African, Asian and South American events. In North American in particular we have to maximize our exposure with a few large events not only due to costs but also due to the limited availability of manpower.
There are also several European conferences being considered that will need to be paid for soon. By end of year we project that Europe and South America will be equalized and North America will pull ahead.
Note: Although our Asian events are not costly at this time, this is because we have not participated in large conferences there. Should that change, Asia will take the lead due to the required investment there.
Meet the Hive Builders
All projects financed through Value Plan are organized and conceptualized by dedicated Hive community members. We asked some of them to introduce themselves here today, in their own words. In no specific order:
@edmundochauran of Hive Sucre (@sucrewallet)(Venezuela)
My name is Edmundo Chauran Venezuelan, father of two children, I am an agricultural technician, from Cumaná in Sucre. I have years in the crypto world, I met Hive through my wife, and I started to create content in Hive. After a long time, I decided to explore the ecosystem, where I started to perform activities within the blockchain and outside it as well, becoming known for my volunteer work for Hive and some projects. So much so that I carried out the first meetup in the city of Cumaná which already bore the name of what today is called as Hive Sucre project, in August 2022.
@cryptosimplify of the Handball sponsorship (Portugal)
I am a Portuguese person that lives in OPorto. I've been a handball player for over 20 years, having played in all national divisions in Portugal, including the first division. This brought me a large network of contacts in national handball, which allows me to dialogue with financial directors or club presidents. In addition to this sports part, I am a person with a background in IT.
@starkerz current organizer of HiveFest (@hivefest)(Mexico)
With a background in project management of large scale multi billion dollar industrial construction projects, I have been a blockchain technology, digital human rights and user sovereignty advocate since 2013, and began building Web3 social media platforms in 2019. Since then, I have played crucial roles in the 3Speak.tv Web3 video platform and the SPK Network a protocol for incentivising off-chain Web3 infrastructure and peer to peer file storage. I also form part of an elected top 20 witness on the Hive blockchain and am a host of the CTT Podcast which discusses the latest in Web3 and Decentralized Network States.
@collinz of the Community Well Project (Ghana)
I am Collins, a proud native of Kumasi, Ghana, where I was born and raised. The vibrant city of Kumasi has had a profound influence on shaping my character and values. I would best describe myself as a sociable, ambitious, and business-oriented individual. My educational journey began in Ghana, where I laid the foundation for my future pursuits. After several years of teaching ICT, I felt compelled to further my own education and expand my horizons. This led me to step away from the education field, embarking on a new path to pursue a master's degree in Management International Business. Driven by my passion for both financial independence and technology, I immersed myself in understanding the intricacies of blockchain technology. I became an active participant in the blockchain community, with a special focus on Hive.
@ssekulji driver of the Hive Rally Car (Croatia)
My name is Slaven Šekuljica, from Zagreb, Croatia. My occupation is a professor of Croatian language and literature and a rally driver. I have been in motprsport for twenty years. Mostly rallying but drove also other disciplines when I had an offer. I've been a Hive member since August 2016.
@chrisrice of Philippines events (@dbuzz)(Philippines)
I am Chris Rice, the Founder of DBuzz, an experienced investor and a people person. I consider myself informal since I am willing to befriend almost anyone, without the typical requirements or standards. Launching DBuzz was actually my third attempt at starting a social network, first one being in 2004 when I was 19 years old, and the second one was with @ktthana using Dolphin software by Boonex. As they say, third time is the charm. I always believed there would come a time that software would empower individuals such as myself to compete with bigger technology firms. The time is now, it's called Web3 and it's built on the Hive blockchain.
@mcsamm of the Community Well Project (Ghana)
My passion for computers led me to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from a prestigious university in Ghana. Upon graduating, I embraced an exciting opportunity as a biometric data entry officer at the National Identification Authority in Ghana. This role allowed me to leverage my expertise in computing and contribute to the development and implementation of cutting-edge identification systems, ensuring accuracy and security in data management. I am also deeply passionate about music. It has become an integral part of my life, providing inspiration, creativity, and an avenue for self-expression. I am fuelled by a strong desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities.
@yonnathang of Hive Barquisimeto (Venezuela)
I consider myself a passionate advocate of blockchain technology and a staunch supporter of Web3 principles. I am an education professional, specializing in mathematics. Since joining Hive in March 2019, my commitment has been to strengthen and contribute to the development of the ecosystem. On June 19th of this year, I had the honor of leading the launch of the Hispapro witness to contribute to the security and reliability of the network. I am excited to continue contributing to the construction of this new digital era.
@manuelramos of the Street Workout Community (@marscrea)(Venezuela)
I am Manuel Ramos, I am 30 years old and I am from the city of Maracay. Currently I am dedicated to the development of community adoption systems within the Hive blockchain and I am training in different knowledge related to the world of Web 3. I am a university student with status (frozen, that is, I am not currently pursuing academic studies). Since 2018 I am creating content on platforms developed on blockchain and the Web3 system. I am fond of photography, hiking, nature and aminals lover, I love diversity and I am a person who is driven by human and spiritual values. Since 2010 I am in the world of Street Workout and Calisthenics, I came to this world motivated to achieve a change in my habits and improve my lifestyle.
@danielvehe of Hive Goes to School (Venezuela)
I am a graphic designer, photographer, international speaker, Hive builder, and the co-founder of Rutablockchain. I have conducted more than 100 workshops, courses, talks, forums about web3 since 2017. I am the director of "Hive goes to School" and have spoken about Hive and Web3 in 25 schools to more than 2000 students and 100 teachers. I also spoke at two conferences about Hive in Madrid (Spain). I'm the director of Rutatokens, Hive to fiat exchange house and of Rutaloans, lending service in HBD. I'm also the co-founder of Loving HIVE, the leading community for Hive promotion with 3 years and more than four thousand users.
@arlettemsalas of Blockchaincon LATAM and other events (Venezuela)
My name is Arlette Salas. I am a Venezuelan who has been in the crypto world for three years and started at Hive a month after the blockchain was born. Today I am a blogger, speaker and part of Hive's Team Builder, also ambassador of Platzi's Blockchain and Cryptocurrency School which is one of the most important online academies in Latin America. I'm Nathan Senn, a 32-year-old blockchain developer, entrepreneur and investor. I co-founded D.Buzz in 2020 and have been coding since the age of 9. For more insight into my life, you can listen to an interview here.
@enrique89 of Hive Creators (@hivecreators)(Venezuela)

I am Veruska Mata, a young Venezuelan woman of 34 years of age who lives in the city of Cumaná in the state of Sucre Venezuela, I am a teacher and dental technician. My family is composed of my husband and my little son of 2 years and 10 months old. I have been a blogger for about 5 years, I started my current account in Steem in August 2018. A little over 7 months ago, I was buying a TV in a very popular appliance store in my city, I was about to pay for the device with some of my rewards received from the creation of my content, I spent a lot of time standing trying to make the p2p exchange to get the fiat money and acquire this good. During this time of waiting, I thought about how simple, practical and commission-free it would be to acquire this artifact just by trading with our cryptocurrencies. From there, my proposal to develop a project together with my partner Edmundo which does not depend on any financial institution and that is positively influencing the economy of the people of the city.
Strengthening Impact
The vision for the remainder of the year is to strengthen the current opportunities and activities and maximize their impact. This is achieved through cohesion and collaboration. No project or initiative is a silo. Everything must overlap towards a greater vision.
Our Web3 Berlin conference presence saw the incorporation of multiple solutions on Hive such as HiveAuth, 3Speak, of course Exode, and even Splinterlands who couldn't make it themselves but provided giveaways. The rally car was brought in to support the event and make it pop and a meetup which attracted potential partners was held. Where multiple cohesive points of impact are joined together they have a greater reach and amplify each other. Hive Creators joined the work on outreach in Ghana and as a result the student Web3 conference that has just passed was a tremendous success. Liketu is commonly showcased in Venezuelan events because this is a country that loves visual content.
We want Hive dapps to all feel welcomed to be part of any event or activity where there is a good fit. Dapps show what can be built. Overlapping opportunities are regularly sought out and we are going to see more and more of them soon. Both conferences scheduled for the US are heavily geared towards highlighting the work of our games, dapps and communities. The limit only rests with the dapp owners themselves because we can't do it alone. We need your input and collaboration. To demonstrate the utility of Hive we need examples and dapps, games, tools, communities, are all examples. There is no competition. When we have Dbuzz at FrolicBlock the team isn't just talking about Dbuzz, they're talking about Hive in general, about other dapps on it.
All education-focused initiatives focused on universities, whether planned or already in existence, are already moving towards an open exchange of resources and ideas. That includes ones in Venezuela and the US with Ghana joining in. Hive is a decentralized community with a shared vision and through tangible connections we can stay true to this vision while moving forward.
In short, collaboration is the name of the game. We aim for this trajectory to continue.
Key Performance Indicators
We are currently drafting functional KPIs and collecting metrics for the end year report and reflection. We have leveraged outcomes such as the number of news articles generated from an event, the size of the audience at events, and the number of opportunities that came to us from an event in the past. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. We are looking for your feedback!
Please share your ideas and expertise in comments below in this format:
1. KPI name/description
2. Qualitative method of data collection
3. Quantitative method of data collection
4. Any notes on measuring impact you wish to provide in relation to this KPI
We are a decentralized community. All of us. Value Plan is all of us on Hive, not just the keyholders and project participants but all of us. We wish to harness the power of the community as what do we do on Hive? We innovate.
Proposal
We are requesting 250,000 HBD to proceed in the next quarter.
