I started contributing to Open Source projects through Utopian.io after couple weeks it launched. I have been seeing that sometimes, it's very hard to track if posts need additional input to be considered or quick fix on the posts. Mods and Contributors have to solely depend on comments on the posts to communicate. New contributions, Posts under Review and Posts that need additional information while reviewing all go to the review section as of right now.
Complication
Mods have to go to the Review section of the posts to look for the posts they reviewed earlier to see the change made. OR Mods have to wait for the comment notifications or check for the replies to their comments. There are many complications with the above methods, Mods might have several notifications and replies within that time frame which can take time to look for it and respond. Contributors are having to go through the list of contributions on the review section to find their posts. This can create complication as the size of contributions grow.
Suggestion
Add the Revising tab for the contributions which needs to be re-evaluated.
Process:
Once Mods review the posts under Review, if everything looks good then that can be approved which can go to Utopian-io wall.
If the contribution needs additional information or needs discussion then mods can make a comment and move the post to Revising section.
Benefits:
- Mods will be able to keep reviewing other contributions without getting distracted by the posts already being reviewed by other mods or themselves.
- Mods can simply come back to the Revising section to re-evaluate the contributions.
- Contributors can easily find their posts in revising section if they have to make necessary changes to their posts.
Synopsis
Mods are working day and night trying hard to make sure only valuable contributions get to its wall. This can help them in the process and make the workflow much easier. Unfortunately, Now we don't have a way to tell which posts are still being revising or not. This can ease the process and save the time for both mods and the contributors.
