What To Expect

Our desire to help people on their journey to health. Whatever your goal, to maintain wellness or to find relief from a particular condition, we look forward to meeting with you. This page will help you understand what you can expect during your initial visit to our Upper Cervical chiropractor in Rockford.

Day 1
The 1st step is to call to schedule an initial no-charge consultation with no obligation. We value listening and understanding your story. 815-398-4500.

During the consultation, the doctor will determine if you are a good candidate for upper cervical care and answer your questions. If you are a candidate for care, the doctor will outline the steps to correct your upper cervical misalignment.

Should you decide to work with us on your journey to health, we are happy to work out a payment plan that allows you to get the care you need at a rate you can afford.

The doctor will perform a thorough exam and take a very specific set of x-rays of the top of the spine. These x-rays are necessary to determine the type of misalignment present and how to best correct it.

Day 2
On your second visit to the office, the doctor will go over your exam and x-ray findings with you. The doctor will identify any problem areas and ensure that you completely understand the findings from your x-rays. The doctor will then recommend a care plan designed to get you healthy and stable as quickly as possible.

You will then receive your first spinal correction. You will lie either on your right or left side and the doctor will apply a slight amount of pressure near the level of your ear. The adjustment is so gentle that most patients are unaware that the adjustment is actually being made. There is absolutely no popping, cracking, or twisting of the neck or back.

Following the adjustment the doctor will measure your leg length and postural distortions before taking you back for post-adjustment x-rays to ensure the accuracy of the correction. You will be asked to rest in the office for a short period of time, and you will receive instructions explaining how to best protect and maintain your new correction.

You should plan on approximately 1 ½-2 hours for this second visit.

The Healing Process
When dealing with spinal misalignment, the integrity of the musculature and ligaments has been compromised, and you must allow adequate time for these structures to heal in the aligned position. The longer your spine has been out of alignment, the more possible damage has occurred, and therefore, the more time required for healing. Talk with the doctor to find out more specifically what you can expect during the healing process of your condition.

Symptoms occur after years of altered function. Prevention is always better than reactive, distress care. Symptoms are the last sign to show up, so a symptom-free state does not necessarily mean that your spine is in alignment nor does it mean that complete healing has been achieved.

How often a patient gets adjusted is directly related to the body’s ability to maintain its alignment. The goal of our NUCCA chiropractor in Rockford is to adjust you as few times as possible. With time and holding your alignment, the underlying issues heal and eventually you will be able to hold your alignment for months or even years.
