Collection to Perfection
Since I have started learning writing and calligraphy, I have had a strong attraction to calligraphy and stationery items, especially pens and notebooks. When I see beautiful pens, I try them out and when I feel like I have found the one, I will buy one without any hesitation (though it should be within my budget, and not burn a hole in my pocket, LOL). However, I always find that these simple things give me immense happiness time and again.
Back when I was in college, I found it easier to save since I could have free ride to school with my father or brother, and didn’t need to spend much. Even with my P50.00 budget daily which was used to buy snacks, lunch and sometimes pay for the fare back to home, I still managed to save some from the budget. In life, when things got rough and my family ran into financial troubles, I used those savings to help my family by not asking them much for my expenses. However when everything is okay, I take out some of my savings and buy the pens I really want to. I do not buy a lot of pens at once, maybe just one or two at a time.
Once when I was graduating in college, I was overwhelmed when my brother and sister asked me what I wanted as a gift. I expressed to them my desire to have calligraphy stationery, and pens. My brother bought me a calligraphy set, some practice paper and an extra purple ink from thecraftcentral in Manila. They also have a shopee storefront and a website for those wanting to get these items. My sister from Iran also sent me a calligraphy set and she sent me the most unexpected, coolest calligraphy straight holder I had ever seen. She sent me colouring pencils too (which I had no idea how to use since I don't know how to draw), along with thick colourful sticky notes, and highlighters. She told me that calligraphy inks she had bought for me aren't allowed in boxes for couriers. I felt sad with the fact but I was still thankful to her for her effort and support. I was filled with beatitude from these surprises I did not expect.

I love to use beautiful pens especially while doing normal studying, solving problems, and writing poems. I find it inspiring to see my handwriting in beautiful colours, it boosts my zeal and ardor. When I look back at those papers I solved in with different colourful pens, I feel really happy that I am able to do what I want with these amazing pens.
Pens are life.
This is something I learned from being a penophile “Everything is good when you love what you do.” Today, I can’t even imagine having a table without a bunch of sticky notes, notebooks, calligraphy stuff along with all of my beloved pens.
