Hello my dear fellow stemian and @uloggers community.
How many of you knows about Jackfruit? Do you have it too in your country?
Here in the Philippines, it is normally seen in every area and it is a regular vegetable in the market. It is a regular fruit sold in the street. In some province, it is made into candy and jam.
Today I didn't cook for lunch. We only have rice and I bought a ready made viand from a lady selling on the street. I got some longanisa and a Jackfruit cooked in cocomilk. Jackfruit is not new to me since this is one of my favorites and I have a childhood memories of this treefruit(this explains why I don't have a picture of it on my own-haha!)
Just now i found a video about this fruit veggie I am talking about and got an idea to make this as my @ulog post. I want to share maybe could be of help to some who can read this.
I remember during my childhood, we lived in a province where there are so many jackfruits between coconuts. It is our lot and my family planted so much of it. During season time, the ripe fruit is very abundant and that we can save our meal just because we are full eating it. It taste so delicious and sweet. In my elementary time, it is always my contribution to bring this fruit for candy project, it can be made as jam or as pastillas. It is taught in our Home Economic subject. During picnics, I also volunteer to bring jackfruit with free coconut BUT...I will not cook..hehehe. Some friends who will go will cook it for us...
So today , all I can say Jackfruit will always be in my memory. I am happy to reminisce those and will look forward visiting my own province again. My childhood place and our fruits.
