#ULOG 1- GRABBING OPPORTUNITIES

One of the most common things old people say is "grab opportunities when you have the chance" or "strike while the iron is hot" or something along those lines. The first time you hear these phrases you would usually understand the logic behind it but you won't be able to appreciate the whole importance of this saying even if you are a mature thinking kid or teenager. I, myself, can testify to this because even tho I understand its meaning, there are times where I fail to apply it. There are important events in my life where I failed to do something to make it more meaningful for me. I'm not saying I failed every single one of them but still I wish I should've put more effort preparing myself for that certain day.

It's funny how I'm blogging about an event I wasn't even able to go to. I was supposed to go to the Orphanage in Sta. Maria, Laguna here in the Philippines today but sadly I woke up super late so I wasn't able to make it in time for my ride. Actually, I was already 5 hrs late. The departing time of the service that was organized by my churchmates was 5am but they waited for me until 6am... I woke up at 9:56am. I had no choice but to stay at home and do chores because I don't know how to commute to the Orphanage. I spent half the day assessing myself, thinking what am I doing wrong because even before this day I had several failures, and I came to the conclusion... I lack dedication. After realizing this, the first thing that came to my mind was to pray— pray to God to help me in my weakness. I know that I can't do anything good if He will not guide me, and if He will not guide me, I won't be saved.

"Seizing the opportunity" really does have its importance especially if it is to do good because there is no opportunity to do good that didn't came from God. He made that opportunity available for us. Our only part now is to sieze it... and the best time for us to sieze it is while we're still young. As it is said in Ecclesiastes 12:1-7

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; while the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, and the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low; also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets: or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."
