Making An Auragraph Into A Painting...Part 2

18" x 14.5", Colored Pencil, Pen and Ink, with Encaustic, Mixed Media: Oil Pastel, Leaves, Purple Tissue Paper on Found Plywood...

This painting is maybe done? It is for my friend who is starting this website called Wisdom Village and she is intent upon promoting me and my Auragraphs and selling people on the paintings because that's what I really want to do...

Here it is before I added the new face and the new bird and the new Pentagram...which I redid because I did not like how they looked.

Encaustic is a very difficult medium to work with - although I have trouble with other kinds of collage as well - when it comes to getting things to truly lay flat - because I don't want to bury them in wax...

You really do have to use the heat gun a lot to reheat the wax underneath the thing you are applying and then you have to use a piece of vellum or tracing paper to put on top of it and then a brayer to press it down and then you have to carefully lift up the vellum hoping it does not take anything much up with it and then sometimes you still have to reheat the surface and carve the wax away so the colors are brilliant...

But it is truly the best thing I have found - because using mod podge to glue down the paper always makes creases - I can never get away with not having creases with mod podge and that drives me crazy...

With Encaustic sometimes not everything sticks but you know it will never come loose unless someone hangs it in the sun...

When I moved, I think I tossed all my collaging materials - all my bottlecaps and my metal pieces and all my broken car lenses and my beads maybe and just about everything - or I just don't know where it is right now in the shed...

IMG_7476.JPG
So, I got creative - I asked my weed friends out there in the back yard if I could take a few leaves...so this is Prickly Lettuce which is actually delicious as well, but I have not eaten it because I have heard that BFF has sprayed Roundup back there in the past...

This is half a Prickly Lettuce leaf - I am going to wait and see if these leaves turn brown or if they are forever encased in wax and going to stay green.

IMG_7474.JPG
This is some other leaf that was back there, I don't know what it is...

The other half of the big Prickly Lettuce leaf...

Here's the Wood, after I had scribbled on it with oil pastel and then used medium to move it around and had just waxed down the leaves...

It did not occur to me to roll the camera before that - sorry - I really need video, I know and eventually, Reanna will see to i that I have it - this is Reanna's Auragraph...

That was the original post of it...with the reading... I am going to stare at this painting for a while and see if I need to do anything more to it or if I have to paint the leaves green...
