Travel With Me - Disney Animal Kingdom & Resort!

With January weather chilling the air, I thought it might be nice to revisit summer. If only for a few minutes. This past August my husband and I celebrated my thirty-second birthday with a stay at Disney World Jambo House Resort! During our visit we had a blast in the Animal Kingdom park and feasted like little piggies at the in resort Boma buffet. The photos below were taken throughout the experience, enjoy!

When visiting Animal Kingdom you'll stroll past this massive wooden door which marks your entry into Africa! Most of us will never have the luxury of an African trip, so I've got to give credit to Disney's imagineers for creating such a rich and authentic environment for guests.

One of the biggest draws for Animal Kingdom is their Kilimanjaro Safari! Guests are escorted by jeep across the safari plot where exotic animals can be spotted high and low.

Of everything we were able to do during our stay, this was my favorite. Well, this and the buffet! The tour guide provided a lot of in depth information about the animals we encountered along our journey. As well as some tidbits on the plants and animal habitats.

There are quite a few animal encounters sprinkled throughout Animal Kingdom, but move slow or you might miss them. These little guys were hanging out all by themselves just waiting for someone to take their picture.. I couldn't refuse!

This larger than life tree is the centerpiece of the Animal Kingdom park which is appropriately named, The Tree of Life. There are over three hundred animals carved on the woods surface, twelve of which appear to be jumping right out. My photo does not do the monster justice, the tree is a whopping one hundred and forty-five feet tall and fifty feet wide at its base!

After a long day in the heat we relaxed at our home for the weekend, Jambo House!

The African theme is carried over and expressed in detail with the room decor. The rooms sit in perfect view of four savannas where guests can view animals right from their balconies! We brought binoculars, but unfortunately our room was a bit too high for optimal viewing.

It's impossible to visit Disney without going on a full sugar binge! The funny thing is we were on the Ketogenic diet at the time, it being my birthday provided the perfect excuse to carb up. Behold my plate of sugar and bread... those eggs are clean protein, if you forget that they're cooked in a pound of butter.

I won't spoil it just yet, but this is a little peek at Pandora! I plan to head back and make a post specifically for The World of Avatar, it was incredible. We were so excited to see it that we watched the movie in preparation haha.

My husband and I have this weird thing that we do when we're at the zoo... we find animal masks and pose with them! I must have half a dozen photos of us doing this at different zoo's. Obviously I couldn't pass up an opportunity to collect another goofy picture.

We were absolutely melting that day... My husband was such a good sport, allowing me to snap photos of him left and right in front of various backdrops. Honestly he knows I take the best photos of him, I think thats why he tolerates it.

Another ongoing joke is that my husband takes the worst photos of me! It's because of this that all of my pictures are selfies. I really wanted my picture taken so I opted for my shadow, we now joke that "Shadow Cat" is my super hero name.

That's it for me, I hope seeing a bit of green foliage and sun basking critters has warmed you up a bit! As always I appreciate you spending time with me today. I would also like to give a warm welcome to my new followers! I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
