Travel with @nicolemoker & @krischy ❤️
Today I would like to continue my trip in Cape D'Aguilar. Last time I stopped at the "Thunder Cave" where you can hear thundering sound when sea waves splash against the cave wall.
If you are interested in the first part of this trip, you may press here.
After leaving the Thunder Cave, we continued on along the road until the end, it leads to the Hong Kong University Swire Institute of Marine Science.
Outside the Institute, the skeleton of killer whale "Hoi Wai" is displayed at the rocky shore.
3. Skeleton of killer whale "Hoi Wai"/
Killer whale "Hoi Wai" had been performing in Ocean Park for 18 years until her death in 1997.
In the photo below, a group of students are paying attention to what the tutor who is explaining the importance in protecting the marine animal.
We climbed up to the rocky mountain right next to the Skeleton of killer whale "Hoi Wai" to have enjoy the boundless ocean view.
Along the shore to the left, you could see a large rocky group at the seaside which has a hole in the middle and that's the Crab Cave.
4. Crab Cave/「
Crab Cave is created when water wears away the underside of a rock and leaving the top. Crab Cave got its name by looking like a giant crab lying on the shore when looking far from the rock.
We spent another half hour walking along the coastline and taking photos.
This is the end of our photo trip. We took the same route back to the bus stop where we got off in the morning. And took bus No.9 or red mini bus back to Shau Kei Wan.
Summary:
Cape D'Aguilar offers panoramic views of the ocean and rocky shore. It also has some unique spots like two natural sea caves, thunder cave and crab cave formed naturally by the wave erosion of the sea, a century-old light house standing on the cliff; a skeleton of killer whale "Hoi Wai" is displayed at the rocky shore.
The walk towards the caves were very easy as it is all paved and marking it a perfect route for even beginner and kids. This is definitely one of the most relaxing and scenic coastal hikes in Hong Kong. I would recommend to bring a full battery camera as there are lots of picturesque views to snap.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy 💓
