Since we had a four day weekend we figured why not go around to the east coast. So we started in Hsin-Chu city and boarded the high speed train (Jubei Station)to KaoShung down south; and yes it was standing room only since everyone in Taiwan was going home in the south for the Moon Festival holiday. Once we arrived in Kaoshung we went over to our favorite hotel by the love river call Ambassador Hotel Kaoshung. This hotel chain has tree hotels in Taiwan, and also uses a point accumulation system for member status.
Once we awoke in the morning we went off to the local TRA train station (Downtown), and boarded a three hour ride to Taitung on the South East side of the island. Once there our hotel sent a very nice bus to pick us up. The roads are big with much less traffic, and life seems to move at a slower pace.
With help from the hotel staff we rented a car, and had a driver drives us north to visit a few places. Aboriginal center was having a very small concert at the time. Along the way our driver stopped at several beaches, and pull out to help us get the perfect photo.
With our new hotel overlooking the coast with a view of the on-coming typhoon; with major waves crashing into the barriers along the east coast. It was raining hard, and it was time to head back. We hired another driver who drove us back to Taipei, and then we took the high speed rail back home to Hsin-Chu.
