Samgyeopsal Restaurants in Bulacan are now way too many. New places here and there.
First off, let's define what Samgyeopsal really is. It is one of the most popular Korean dishes and refers to pork belly meat slices grilled on your table. Its name literally means: three (sam; 삼) layered (gyeop; 겹) flesh (sal; 살) referring to the layering of fat and meat. In fact, there’s a Samgyeopsal Day celebrated every 3rd of March (sam 삼-sam; 삼) in Korea where all people should eat Samgyeopsal.
Currently, aside from pork belly, other meats and even seafood were added for variety. Beef, chicken, fish, shrimp, squid, oysters, etc. Name it. They have it.
We love Korean Food and we are certified meatlovers. So one Sunday afternoon, when we got the invite to try SamG Guiguinto, the newest player in town, we were very excited! We are way beyond curious what would set it apart with the rest.
The place was comfortably cold and well-ventilated. It's quite huge and could probably sit about a hundred people. When we arrived around 1:30pm, there were already about 7 tables occupied. But in just a few minutes, people already came in droves.
Whenever a restaurant serves meat and grilled at that, the quality of food will greatly depend on the freshness of the meat. And SamG did not disappoint. Adding a dash of salt and pepper plus a drizzle of soy sauce and sesame oil makes both the pork and beef savory and flavorful. And of course, you get to pair them with your choice of marinated vegetable side dishes. And oh boy, did I say that you may add cheese to the equation? Simply dip your meat into the fondue and start asking yourself what took you so long to try it?
Customers go back to a place not only because they loved the food. Customers go back to a place when customer service is excellent. And at SamG, it was no surprise why they have earned their patrons' loyalty in such a short span of time. All the staff and crew were very accommodating and attentive. Special mention to Eira and Ken. They were friendly and didn't mind answering our queries. KUDOS to both of you!
Paying P299 for unlimited Samgyeopsal, sides and Red Iced Tea is very reasonable. Just add P100 if you opt for unlimited beef and only P50 for cheese! It could have been such a steal and a better deal though if there were more choices like chicken and seafood.
In any restaurant, cleanliness is very important. It surely is a reflection of how your food was . And SamG, I suppose makes it a priority. Dining area, the visible Kitchen, the condiments section, the bar and even the rest room were all spotlessly tidy.
I may have a few suggestions but our dining experience was extremely great! We will definitely come back and recommend SamG to all our family and friends. Super thanks SamG! There's absolutely no need for us Bulakeños to go battle the traffic in the Metro for an amazing Samgyeopsal!
