Are things ever only black and white?
Rarely so.
Simple creatures remain in their limited sphere because their field of focus is limited by a very simplified combination of tools.
Humans as a species are very successful not because they have the best set of senses but because they operate these in unison to perform complex observations and develop efficient tools and feedback tuned, effective strategies.
We have 5 senses and a brain that handles complex multidimensional thinking. When used well, these senses and complex cognitive abilities can achieve space flight.
When intellectual laziness or observations and thinking are limited by ulterior motives and we take a binary view of the world we devolve. Instead of using our full colour spectrum capabilities we focus exclusively on one chromatic element to the exclusion of all others. Life becomes monochromatic and our cognitive skills stunted.
In this state emotions are easy to inflame and manipulate. Unthinking emotion rarely leads to lastingly positive outcomes.
