#ThougfulDailyPost - Struggle, Character & Strength

Zekethoughts.jpg

My weekly discipline is to pause on Thursday nights, review my folder of quotes that made me pause to think, and share them with the world via Hive. @Wesphilbin waves the flag for us and runs @thoughtfulposts as the curation account that rewards thoughtful posts. Please consider delegating if you are the thoughtful type and want to encourage people to share their positivity.

Here are a couple that made me pause, ponder, and made the cut for #thoughtfuldailypost. Pairing them with music just seems right as words to tune have that extra special power.

Struggle & Character

I can't seem to find the origin of this one so maybe it is just public knowledge. This image seems to be used as the background to many memes so who knows where the words could have originated? The struggle is real!

My little one asked me what strength of character means tonight. She won an award for that which made her happy but was looking for the meaning. I told her it just means you are a good person, resilient, and you spread that where you go. Close enough I guess.

The struggle part of this caught my eye as I see plenty of people who interpret inconvenience as an attack on their rights. Discomfort and challenge just are not worth it because it doesn't make you happy in the moment. Maybe I am just a different vintage but I found that many things worth doing, and those many won't do, can produce the best rewards. On the road to success in almost anything, there are struggles and failures, but those build character and wisdom as we refine our game and find a way to win.

One thing I know is that struggles suck while you are in the midst of them, unless you can keep your eyes on the prize and know they are a part of the big victories. Let us relish the struggles and know the character they build make it worth not skipping.

So many of these remind me of the life lessons taught in a Billy Joel song. You're Only Human.

Liz Fosslein is a team building speaker and an author. When you get paid top dollar to coach corporate leaders how to lead, you might have something thoughtworthy to share!

I have seen people down, and stay there. I have seen some fail and come back stronger. I have not witnessed too many people go way down into that valley, hit bottom and recover. It takes quite a bit to get down that far. Bad decisions, bad luck, poor risk mitigation, or all of the above. It is just so easy to lose faith in someone and expect the pattern to just continue.

We each have our valleys, some WAY deeper than others and some people have a whole different level of issues to deal with. We can praise someone for reaching that top but I am sure we often don't even see the huge setbacks or know the strength it took to get to the top. I kinda like this one because it just starts to continue into the white line of success and who knows how high that will go.

Maybe, I should just admire the strength of someone struggling, not linger on the damage done while down in that hole, and have renewed faith in those who have gone through hell, and just kept on going so they wouldn't be stuck in it.

This is just a ridiculous metal song from 1983. Grim Reaper will See You In Hell and then we will have to muster the strength to climb out of it.
