This is the Borough Hall in Brooklyn, designed by architects Calvin Pollard and Gamaliel King in the Greek Revival style, and constructed of Tuckahoe marble.

The land was donated for the hall in 1834 by the Remsen and Pierrepont families, whose names are commemorated in the names of Brooklyn's Remsen and Pierrepont Streets, and the cornerstone laid in 1836.

However due to financial hardships, the construction was delayed, but it was eventually completed in 1848.

The building was added to the national historic register in 1980, and in the 1980s it underwent a massive renovation.
