Today we had an amazing time at @abgmie and @kymio's house for Hari Raya Visitation. The festive season of Hari Raya celebration is still on going and will last for a month and #teammalaysia got an open invitation to everyone to head on over to @kymio's place for food! In Malaysia, we call it 'open house', which means that your house is open to guests and the host is going to cook up VERY delicious food to serve their guests.
What is Hari Raya?
'Selamat Hari Raya' which is also known as Eid al-Fitris a festivity celebrated by Muslims all over the world after the 1 month Ramadhan fasting.
And usually during this time, friends and loved ones would gather and visit one another once a year during Hari Raya to celebrate. It's like for the Chinese, it's Chinese New Year.

When I got there, I managed to meetup with @sireh who was there early already. @sireh leads the #steem-cartoon community that consists of students/working artists who are in Malaysia. He personally shares a vision that the students would find Steemit as an alternative source of income that will help to curb finances in the future. It was good to have met him again and not long after that, @bitrocker2020, @aaronleang and @joannewong arrived as well.
@notimetospace and I were already going head on into the delicious food served and let me tell you this, and I can keep repeating myself.... The Beef Rendang..... is the BOMB!!!
It is ever so tender and so flavourful that when you bite into the tender beef, the other herbs and spices just excrete its juices in your mouth. Okay...that sounded a little wrong but who cares! It's the best I've tasted so far! You'd probably heard me saying that all the time but because the food that the Malay culture have mastered over centuries have come to its perfection.
Not to mention the very famous Penang Laksa which @kymio's mum made. His mum is from Penang so she has brought down the recipe and shared it with us by cooking us some Penang Laksa
The table had one of the best Lemang & Ketupat I've tasted as well. It is said to be the best in Malaysia.
Lemang - traditional food made of glutinous rice, coconut milk and salt, cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaves in order to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo. Wikipedia
Ketupat - a type of dumpling made from rice packed inside a diamond-shaped container of woven palm leaf pouch. Wikipedia
After that, we had a little time chatting and listening to @abgmie and @kymio's stories about their travels and how they love taking photos as a hobby. Also listened to @kymio shared about #klsketchnation and #urbansketchers and how he started it all.
It was very inspiring to see how @kymio uses Steemit as a platform to share his sketches and to talk about his initiative, #klsketchnation. Then we also talked about #steempress and how it can actually helped archive his works on Steemit.
We all left at 5.30pm because we needed to head home and more guests were coming so we wouldn't want to hog the dining table.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank @kymio & @abgmie once again for hosting us with delicious food and most importantly, the nice company and chats with you guys. It is true that @kymio said over the chat we had earlier today that he enjoys connecting with people like the #teammalaysia community, and so do I.
