How to improve your memory the easy way

Greetings my esteemed Steemians,

Some of you may probably be still in their holiday moods. But I am very sure that most of our fellow steemians are already on their feet working on creating good content.

Those who keep working on creating good content may become encouraged to do so because they are getting better with every post.

Without you realizing it, by repeating what you are doing, is the main ingredient on how to improve your memory and at the same time your skills the easy way.

You may have learned a lot of HTML codes on your quest to improve your content. And since you are repeating the same process, it becomes easier to remember the codes. This helps you in your blog design, arranging fonts, pictures and paragraph. It eventually improves your skill and creates good content.

Hypothesis.

I remember about 30 years ago, I read an article written by a women scientist. It was the hypothesis behind how to improve your memory the easy way. This is how I understand it.

First, you need to take care of the organ that holds that function, which is the brain.

Water is of major importance to all living things; in some organisms, up to 90% of their body weight comes from water. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water.Dec 2, 2016

You need to drink plenty of water because that is the main component of your brain and it improves all the chemical reactions.

What happens when you try to remember a new knowledge.

Can you imagine forgetting your mother's face, her scent and their soothing voice?
I can't.

After you were born, the first thing that the midwife did, was to place you on your mother's chest. Your mother will kiss you and check if everything's perfect. That would be the first thing you remember. Although not in details, just being hugged by your mother now, you can feel this great feeling inside (it took me a while to look for the best description) that it has happened for as long as you could remember.

This new experience will be the new info or knowledge that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Inside your brain, there are billions of brain cells called neurons. These cells are responsible for storing all your memories. Good or bad.

Memory has long been described as a function of brain cells getting together and forming connections. A new study finds single cells can remember things. Individual nerve cells (called neurons) in the front part of the brain can hold traces of memories by themselves for up to a minute, perhaps longer.

Back to when you were born.
If you were only introduced to your biological mother once before you, let say, being adopted, in theory, you will remember your biological mother for just a few minutes. That is another way of saying that you will not remember your real mom if you were adopted immediately after being born.

If you are not adopted, your mom will be on your side 24/7, the brain cell that holds memory about your mother will start to form "bridge" and connect itself to another neuron. This will hold the memory a little bit longer.

The "bridge" formed by two brain cells will become thicker every time you are together with your mother to a point that it is impossible to 'break' that 'bridge'. In other words, it is impossible to forget your mother.

How do we apply to everyday activities?

For your children.

I always remind my children to listen well and ask as many questions as possible, to a point that their teacher can no longer provide an answer.
And drink enough water.

What does this practice do?

First, when they are introduced to a new knowledge, a brain cell will hold that knowledge. By asking as many questions as possible, related to it, will 'force' them to repeatedly remember the same knowledge.

Theoretically, the brain cells that hold the memory will start making connections and form a "bridge". When he or she understands the new knowledge, they can repeat the new info within the next 24 hours in any way they like. Every time they repeat, it will increase the 'thickness' of the 'bridge' between the two brain cells that hold the memory.
My children remember their ABC.

Since water is one of the main components of the brain, it plays an important role in 'forming' the new 'bridge'. A good amount of water for your kids to bring to school is a good practice.

For us the adult.

Basically, we need to force ourselves to keep repeating the same info that we want to remember and drink enough water. This was what I did when remembering my 52 password characters. I always key in my passwords until I no longer need to look at the piece of paper that holds my password. That paper is inside my vault now.

Imagine this,

If you put a tractor on this bridge, do you think it will hold?

The 'thicker bridge' clearly show how strong it is.

Can you guess why this Lion Dance Troupe become so good? Your guess is as good as mine.

Conclusion

It is easy to improve your memory.
This is what you need to do:-

  1. Drink plenty of water.
  2. Keep repeating the info you need to remember. Especially within 24hours from acquiring new knowledge.

Thank you for reading. I hope that this blog post will help you and your beloved to improve yours and their memories.
