My tattoos and the stories behind them

This is my favorite tattoo it was done in San Salvador, by a friend of a friend over there called Spoof, I can't remember the name of the studio, his Whatsapp number was +503 7603 0571 in 2004. The design is from one of my favorite tshirts that that I've owned. When the shirt got too old and full of holes I took a photo of the print and said the next time I go overseas Im going to get it tattooed on me. It has no meaning or significance but I still love the design as much now as I did 10 years ago when i bought the shirt from Paddies Markets, in Chinatown, Sydney, Australia. Its a tiger skeleton... I think spoof did an excellent job, it turned out exactly how I wanted it too

This is my most recent tattoo, I got it at the end off 2017, in Lima, Peru buy Jose at Hip Hop Tattoo, Whatsapp +51 930 234 706. Jose is another friend of a friend. I this as well has no meaning, I just loved the design especially the tail. It's the monkey from the Nazca Lines in South Peru. If you don't know about the Nazca Lines they were created over 2000 years ago by a lost civilization near Nazca by removing stones in the desert to create patterns, there's a humming bird, a tree, a condor, a spider, a dog and many more, even an astronaut! The crazy thing about them it that the patterns can't be seen from the land, only from the air and there are no montains or high points near by so the creators wouldn't have had any way of seeing their work. Nobody know why they were made either, some scientists think that they were to worship their gods, others think that they are to communicate with aliens. I can't recommended Jose enough, I originally was just thinking of doing it like a tribal tattoo, but Jose thought that it would look too flat and plane and recommended shading it and drawing the cracks in the back ground to represent the desert and lift it up.

10 of my classmates and I got this his tattoo on different parts of our bodys after we completed the CELTA English teaching course in Montañita, Ecuador. It says JOURNEY in the phonetic Alphabet, which is how you write English the way that it is pronounced, a method ESL teachers use to teach pronunciation. It's a bit nerdy, but I like it and there was alot of peer pressure to get it haha. It was actually done by one of our students during the course, Jeisson Durango.

This was my first tattoo, I'd always wanted a tattoo but I never new what to get, then one day came up with the idea of getting a koi fish while I living in Japan. said to myself if I still like the idea in one year I'll get it. It was around the time of my birthday so when my next bday came around I decided to commit. It went to a studio in Bondi Junction in Sydney, where I was living at the time and told the guy I wanted a koi and he showed me some designs and I choose the one that I liked the best. It cost $600 AUD, Which is more that all my other's have costed combined! I was happy to finally have a tattoo and I felt really special and cool, but then I realized how many other people have Koi tattoos and they all seemed better then mine! A few years latter in Bali I was talking to a tattoo artist and he told me that he could and to it and make it more to the shape of my body, he added the flowers and extra waves. After that I started to really like it.

The final is my least favorite, but it probably has the best story. I dont regret getting it, I'm just sick of people asking me what it is and why I got it and when they ask me if it's a squid or an octopus and I say I don't know they think Im an idiot haha. I got it in one of my favorite places in the world, Siargao, The Philippines. I became friends with a dude there who was learning to do tattoos and one day while we were drinking he came up with the idea to design a tattoo for me and to just do it on my arm without me seeing what it is until its finished. He went home to design it and I continued to drink. So the next day I went around to his house with a massive hangover and wasn't so sure if it was still a good idea, but he seemed so happy with his design and it seemed like he'd put alot of work into it, so I felt bad if I'd changed my mind. Anyway this is the result, an octopus/squid with 3 eyes. I think it represented something, but I was drinking alot in that time and I can't remember. If anyone knows please tell me in the comments! Haha
