Last month I reached a milestone in everybody's life: I turned 20 twice.
My husband and I decided to go to the mountain looking for a cooler temperature. Some friends recommended us a restaurant called Colibrì, located in Boquete, so we went there for the first time.
The premises are very cozy but elegant at the same time.
There are well maintained gardens in front of the restaurant and in the back as well: they have a few tables in the veranda surrounded by tropical plants and colibrì, as its name suggests.
The restaurant offers a wide menu and there's also a "choice of the week" list. We wanted to try some food we usually don't eat at home.
The owners are Italian, but they were not there that day, so we could not meet them. Anyway, waiters are professional and nice.
We chose the Galician style octopus and the smoked salmon, that is obviously not local, but it's a food I love and I never eat here in Panama.
Octopus came with mashed potatoes.
Salmon with arugula, fresh flowers, and homemade bread.
We opted then for Ricotta and Spinach Ravioli.
At that point we felt very full, hence we didn't order any desserts.
I can say that we came with a high expectation because of our friends' recommendation that unfortunately was not totally satisfied; however, as the menu has many other interesting options, we shoud give them another chance in the future.
The final bill was around 60 $, a little expensive in our opinion for what we got, but it's in line with restaurants of this kind which offer fresh quality local food, mixed with unusual recipes and imported ingredients: remember we are in Panama!
