HP Switch vs Cisco Switch

Hey folks, I guess lets start of with the confusion of the pic above, I chose that pic because HP switches are now re-branded as Aruba after the acquisition of Aruba.

It is still the same switch , same commands, but with a new name and look.

So what sets Cisco switches apart from Aruba? But before we take a dive into this, I would just like to state that I have used both switches and this is only my opinions based on my experience and others maybe of different opinions which everyone is entitled to.

Pros of Aruba:

  1. Free life time support
  2. CLI is much like Cisco's
  3. Friendly Syntax
  4. Cheaper
  5. Ideal for small to medium businesses
  6. Easy manageability

Pros of Cisco:

  1. Scalable for the future
  2. Built for enermous networks
  3. Loads of features
  4. Code are stable
  5. Bugs are fixed quick
  6. Extremely reliable
  7. Relatively easy to manage many switches

So we can see both these products have very good features and are recommended by IT specialists however to me they serve best in different environments.

I personally would use Cisco for large environments whereby I would use Aruba in small to medium businesses.
