How do you cure a case of the Mondays? Look back on a #SublimeSunday!
It seems the blockchain has turned Sunday from the day when I sit on my ass, to one where I walk the dog and see what else I can get up to for the sake of it. Alright let's do this!
This time, I am doubling up on the Wifepoints© as I am joining my better half and we are taking the old dog too.
He loves to roam all over the place franticly when alone but really gets going when there is another dog to chase. A nice dusting of snow stifles a bit of the mud but is fun to play with and even snack on.
Half way through the walk, I switched over to the old girl and headed back a bit sooner to give her a break. She still loves her walks but we don't want to test her endurance at this age.
She also develops a bad case of the snowballs on her leg feathers and gets justifiably annoyed. My quick cure for that is to pick her up and visit the hot tub. After a nice walk in the cold snow, the hot water immediately melts the snowballs and probably feels good after the walk.
Next up is a trip downtown to catch the annual Christmas/Santa clause parade. I would normally skip this event happily but my little one is in the parade this year.
As we hang out front of https://bar-bq.ca, the procession starts with some emergency vehicles very slowly leading the way with sirens blaring. The firefighters and paramedics wave to the kids who are exited to be out among people, celebrating the start of the Christmas season.
You might be in small town Canadia if there is a school bus in your parade.
Mercifully, the marching band we came to see is only a few minutes behind the emergency vehicles and we can hear them playing Christmas Carols as they arrive.
There it is! assembled with willing parts of the high school band, fit with mascots and sorts teams and dancers and players.
There is my little one playing the cymbals, all smiley and still incognito with her mask. She was so excited for having played in the parade probably a third of the town showed up to see. What an experience to play in a band, learn new instruments, and get hours playing live music. Having played in a few stage bands over the years, I can only think of the head start she has over me not having done anything like this in high school.
On the way back to the car, I had a chance to hang out with our Head instructor out front of the BJJ gym https://stratford.bjj.com for a bit. Behind us, he had the academy being used by a local Kendo group who had recently lost their training space. Ryan magnanimously offered Sunday evening so they could have a space to continue their training. Almost like bamboo lightsabres!
I hope your Sunday was sublime too!
