Stay Near Me Do Not Fly Away

Sublime Beautiful Sunday

Don't need to mention it's sublimely hot down South, with a lot of chatter online about the buyout what better way to continue life (in between waiting our fate) than share what's happening....

Jumping in, let's give our Witnesses time to find the right footing, very capable technical staff will overcome initial shock to start assessing this situation.

Chasing Butterflies

After a few years of drought, recent good rains falling, new life filled the skies, beautiful white butterflies called the Pioneer Caper Whites (Belenois aurota), Karroo (Northern Cape) and Kalahari (Namibia) is where they originate, starting life on the Shepherd's tree. Once they disperse moving to find greener pastures they do not return, both Johannesburg and Durban have been enjoying an influx of butterflies.

Moving in a North-Easterly direction most go to Mozambique where they reach the sea a die off, next generation is already in eggs laid before and along the route of departure, (on the wind of time some may make Mauritius.) In reality this is an emigration, not a migration, it's a one way ticket event that happens every year midsummer, pollinating the flowers, feeding the birds, clouds of them arrive over a few weeks at this time every year.

Duranta erecta not a local plant is most definitely food for butterflies, all good timing with flowers open when the butterflies arrived, not only the Pioneer Caper Whites, butterflies we have enjoyed a special treat this year with big and small some measuring under 5mm, too fast to photograph skimming the grass. Below Swallow tail butterflies arrived for some nectar, flowers on the other side of the garden.

Bird Talk

Sitting high above appears to be the Lemon-breasted canary a seed eating bird, not to worry with butterflies.

With another pose, three arrived, two sat patiently waiting out the midday heat, skies appear gray due to humidity in the air. I was forced to sit outdoors due to rolling black-outs we having over here, Oh what fun!

Oh the Red winged Starling will be enjoying a meal or two flying through.

A White eared barbet that loves wild figs will also supplements with an insect or two.

Steem footnote: We have strong Communities on Steem blockchain, Witnesses and Technical People taking care of matters, not to panic just yet, Everyone needs a little more time to settle down.

All photography is my own using a Canon PowerShot SC730 HS, resized to load easier, writing is my own.
