Hello, Steemians!
I am so excited to have gotten 2nd Runner Up for Overall Best in @v4vapid's BLOCK-CHAINS conspiracy writing contest #4!
My story that I entered is called Coded.
Here is a small glimpse into the story:
In a land where The Matrix divides the East and the West, the blockchain separates society between the free and the imprisoned. On the East Side of The Matrix, cryptocurrency is an empowerment. On the West side of The Matrix, cryptocurrency is used to enslave humanity. The citizens of Electra are free and the blockchain represents the value they contribute to society. The Citizens of the Crypt Republic are slaves who mine quartz which is the energy behind the blockchain...but is that all that fuels it? An Electran spy is sent undercover to the Crypt Republic, hidden as a member of the lower castes to infiltrate the Western side of the Matrix and destroy it. The objective? To free humanity.

I had SO. MUCH. FUN. writing for this contest!!!
First off, I would like to give a HUGE thanks to everyone who read my story and upvoted it. It means a lot! I am flattered that so many of you like it so much! This is actually the first time I have written a story like this, so I had absolutely no idea if people would take to it or not. I have taken it as a huge nod of encouragement to go ahead and write more installments to this story! So definitely stay tuned! I have tons of different ideas for it. I seriously couldn't believe it when I saw how many upvotes it had received.
I read all the time. I'm seriously a geek bookworm. Just because I'm into art doesn't mean I can't be a little geeky! However, this whole "conspiracy, dystopian" genre is seriously my jam. Aside from historical fantasy novels, I read this genre all the time. So I'm glad I was able to take this knowledge and write my own take on a society such as this, adding some of my own imaginative twists along the way!
And yes, I did write about how the blockchain can be used to imprison humanity. That was the goal of the contest. HOWEVER, I tried to intertwine another perspective where it can be used as the ultimate freedom to humanity. And to be honest, I think the blockchain could be used either way, and it's good to be aware of that. But I seriously hope we can use it the good way!
You should all check out @v4vapid's winners post to see all of the other great stories who won! You can also see a collection of all of the fantastic entries by clicking on #blockchains-contest.
I would also like to share with you my fellow #UnFucker, @erinn's story. I loved her unique observational POV, and the elaborate setting and plot she has created. She has definitely set the stage for more parts of that story, so I'm looking forward to that!
Thanks again to all of you who have enjoyed and supported my story!! I can't wait to write and share the other parts with you. Do any of you have ideas for the future installments? Let me know in the comments!
