The Average Human Body

We may have seen different heights and sizes of people all over the world. Some are small in size and big in size, while some other are short in height and others tall in height. We have also seen some humans who are extremely tall and large in size (giants).

Guinness world record has recorded both the shortest, tallest, fattest, smallest, biggest, largest men and women for over the years.

But they recently recorded a Chinese man that is 28years of age as the average human. I am not contented with that report, because for me the averaging of humans depends on the environment and genes. If they had said "an average human in China, that's understandable.
And not to generalize it.

So who is an average human?

Study have shown that no humans have the same size not even genetically identical twins one must be bigger or smaller than the other. Though genes and environment influence human biological position from transparent characteristics to physiology to disease fragile to mental capacities. Although i am yet to understand the influence of genes and environment on certain traits.

Researches in both sciences and social sciences has shown that the height and size of every human is usually determined by the alliance of genetics and environmental factors.

Human growth may be reduced due to illness and poor nutrition during childhood. This means that human height or size is mutually related with the standards of living.

Height variations all over the world entails a picture of economic development. The essence of using height as an interface is the availability of data in the pre-statistical period.

However, It is said that an average man is just over 5ft 9in tall. He weighs almost 162lb , his chest is 38 3/4in round, his waist 31 3/4in, his hips 37 3/4in . The maximum weight he reaches is about 172Ib, and that is between the ages of 35 and 54.

Whilst an average woman is almost 5ft 3 1/4in tall. She weighs almost 135Ib, her bust is 35 1/2in, her waist 29 1/4in, her hips 38in . The maximum weight she reaches is about 152Ib. And that is between the ages of 55 and 64 . Though these figures are for people in the USA.

But then what about other countries that have different datasheet for an average human?

Because in Sub-Saharan Africa, the data sheet for the average human in this part of the world is different with that of the other parts of the world.

Generally, research has also shown that in every 100 men, 95 are between 5ft 4in and 6ft 2in. But the tallest man that has ever lived (whose height has been verified) was 8ft 11in tall at death (age 22), and the shortest 26 1/2in (age 21).

In fact, the distribution of many physical characteristics in a population can be summed up in a curve called the "normal distribution " curve, shown opposite . The range of the characteristics goes all the way from 0 to 140, and there are people at every point in between. But there are very few people at either of the extremes and very many in the central area.

In the body of every 100 men, 95 weigh between 127 and 209Ib, for women it is 95 and 195Ib. In the average 162Ib man, about 43% of the weight is muscle, 14% is fat, 14% bone and marrow, 12% internal organs, 9% connective tissue and skin, and 8% blood.
The weight distributes : 47% in the trunk and neck, 34% in the legs, 12% in the arms, and 7% in the head. Broken down into his elements, man is 65% oxygen, 18.5% carbon, 9.5% hydrogen, 3.3% nitrogen, 1.5% calcium, 1% phosphorous, 0.35% or less each of potassium, sulphur, chlorine, sodium, and magnesium, with traces of iron, iodine, zinc, fluorine, and other elements. This gives him enough water to fill a 10 gallon barrel, enough fat for 7 bars of soap, enough phosphorous for 2,200 match heads, and enough iron for a 3in nail.

I will summarize by saying that, the average man or woman does not exist. Since in every countries of the world, the benchmark for an average human differs or should i say contradicts each other. You can find the data for an average human in every country here and see for yourself.
