What effects does exercise have on our intelligence?
There are studies that affirm that both in animals and humans exercise improves the ability to remember and learn in an amazing way. Who could imagine that doing weights, running or doing aerobic exercise can help people become smarter?
Research has established how physical activity increased people's intellectual performance, specifically in children. These studies have shown that more physically capable children had significantly more developed basal ganglia.
The basal ganglia are an area of the brain that help sustain attention and executive control. In this way, voluntary movement, the learning of motor skills, the movement of the limbs and the maintenance of posture are regulated.
