Bad behavior in children should be corrected

Source

The behaviors of children, often depends on the environment where they were raised from. But sometimes, the adoption of rebellious behavior can be born unexpectedly, maybe because of something unfortunate that may have happened to the child and is unable to control or understand it.

When a child would not know how to handle his feelings, it is when disturbing ideas cloud his mind which results in a display of poor behavior, or doing inappropriate things or worse, harm the people around them.

A child displaying a wrong behavior is never pleasant. At times, they think that doing mischief will attract the attention they seek, but in truth, it is frustrating and causes others to adopt the negativity. The subconscious of children captures everything including the good and the bad. When it comes to a point where they will observe inappropriate actions by a peer or a partner, it makes them believe that it is acceptable or even the right thing to do. That is why, as teachers, we must handle the situation in the best way possible to avoid other children get hurt in the process.

Incorrect Behavior

In a class, there is often one or more children that may acquire or exhibit these behavioral problems. The problem must be addressed from the very source.

We have to let them understand that the purpose of why they are attending school and that is to learn and behave, not to disturb others who are keen on learning. Along with that, it is also best to make them understand the effects of doing negative things both to himself as a consequence, as well as others where they will have poor grades.

Children are quick to absorb what is explained to them, though there are some who understands faster than others. But all that depends on how difficult it is to drain what they feel. Bad behavior can influence their repressed emotions which are not yet released, and for that reason they are displaying the inappropriate behavior.

Children should not be hit nor shouted at. It is already enough to talk them through and make it clear to the child that behaving poorly will never lead to anything good. The conversation is more than enough.

Inappropriate behaviors must be admonished, so that children can instill in their minds why they should not be misbehaving in the first place, and that doing so can result in dire consequences.

These strategies are often enough for children to improve their behavior.

When the children interrupts the class, do not let their classmates pay attention. We can place the child’s chair at the very back of the room facing the wall. His back will be the one facing his classmates. In this way, he will only listen to the lectures, but will be unable to participate in class, letting him know that the behavior he is displaying is not the right thing to do.

We have to do this strategy repeatedly, if necessary, until it will yield positive results.

• Isolation in the classroom as a behavior improvement strategy

When a child absorbs and exhibits inappropriate behavior with his classmates in class, we cannot allow for it to continue. As it will definitely maintain the same harmful pattern, it is our responsibility to put an end to it.
We can isolate this student from the entire class by asking his other classmates to get away from him. Carry out his evaluations while he is isolated, and he will eventually understand that the only time he can join the entire class is for him to improve his behavior.

• Strategies to improve the behavior in children can be applied in different ways.

It is not a punishment. It is a way to mold the child’s behavior. We have to let our students understand, that exhibiting inappropriate acts can separate them from the class. Isolating them and having them stand, facing the wall, without any other contact from another child, will let them understand that what he did was wrong.

To integrate, we must exhibit the appropriate behavior.

The best strategy that leaves a mark and improves their behavior

When we can no longer improve the child’s behavior with any of our strategies, we must identify this and take more drastic actions. We can send them over to an educational psychologist, more like guidance counselors, to help these children, as they are better geared to understand their changes in psychological behaviors as well as address them. Not only that, it will also let the students become aware that they will be losing precious playing hours if they continue to misbehave.

When recreational hours are eliminated due to poor behaviors, it is easy for them to understand that when they start to behavior poorly, they will be losing time with their friends which enables them to change their way of acting.

Helping a child to improve his behavior is a job that takes a large amount of dedication and patience. As educators, we must be tolerant and look for ways to help them.
