Before we begin this issue of upvoting on Steemit, let us make one thing clear; no one owns you upvotes on Steemit. Just because you wrote a great post does not mean you deserve upvotes.
Upvoting a voluntary action of Steemians and not an obligation. Sometimes your post gets more views from non Steemians via Google and that will result in high views but low upvotes.
However if for some reason you still need to squeeze some $$$ out your post, then use the following tricks to get some upvotes.
1. Use upvote services
If you have a few amounts of Steem or Steem Dollars, you can order for upvote from @Booster or @randowhale.
When you use these services right after your post was published, it puts your post in the trending category and you could earn more upvotes.
2. Call on minnow support
The @MinnowSupport bots in Discord are very effective in providing you with free upvote from @MinnowSupport and other accounts on its trail.
@MinnowSupport upvotes do not weight much but the huge number of upvote that comes with it is something very helpful.
3. Manually drive in traffic
If you have free time, you can manually promote your post on Facebook, and other social media sites. Mostly you will find Steemians on PAL Discord Server or Steemit.chat.
4. Use Steem follower
SteemFollower.com is another great tool which allows us to exchange upvotes with other Steemians. Use it whenever you need a direct way of exchanging upvotes.
5. Get over it and move on
Sometime no matter what you do, a post will simple not convert. When you have tried all the above methods but to no avail, simply move on and write another post.
