Days ago, I contemplated on how to find an alternative energy source for cooking in homes especially for families who cannot afford the high rate of petroleum product such as Kerosene. The Biogas Cooker project is not only to serve as an alternative energy source, its usage will also help in conserving the environment as wastes will be used in generating the biogas for cooking.
Currently, the poor state of power supply in Nigeria is so bad that every business must as a matter of necessity own a power generating set that is either powered by diesel or petrol. The prices of the generators are quite growing higher each day coupled with the noise pollution everywhere.
Though Nigeria exports her fossil fuels, yet the nation suffers a huge lot on electrical power. The raw materials (crude oil) we export are refined in other countries and sold back to us for use as fuels at a very high cost. We frequently experience price hikes in the petroleum based products. Moreover, our environment are well depleted with the continuous use of petroleum based products. Source
On resuming my desk study, I had setbacks still with power supply. My petrol engine which is my main source of power for my hub developed issues and would barely work at 40% performance for the past two weeks. This had crumbles activities and informal meetups which takes place at the hub in Uyo. Over last week, I could manage the situation which became unbearable on Saturday such that it could no longer power any device.
The situation left me seemingly lazy over the weekend. Howbeit, yesterday was Monday, a first working day, yet, all efforts to solve the problem proved abortive. On analyzing the expenditure I incurred repairing the power generating set, I discovered that purchasing a new Engine for the generating set would be a better option.
Hurray! today, God made the provisions and I was able to procure a new engine for the power generating set. Costing as much as NGN25,000 equivalent to 125 STEEM (at the current exchange rate), the new engine was fixed to the old frame and alternator by my technician and its up for work.
I am glad that all the operations in our hub will resume at full node. Expecting more unofficial meet-ups, flag-raising designs, brainstorming sessions and coaching . Most importantly, our research operations will go unhindered especially for the biogas cooker.
I must say here that my love for #steem and my #steem communities especially @Steemchurch, wouldn't let me go for hours without stopping by the blockchain to either glean from the ever increasing quality content and curating awesome writes. Indeed, the time and resources invested here is never a waste.
This blog is my second #success-story shared on the #steem platform. I trust that I will be so blessed to share my daily #success-stories to inspire many. Indeed, it pays to have God and trust Him to provide for your needs. Here is His promise:
It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. - Lamentations 3: 22
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. - Joel 2: 26
