All the accounts of the gospellers in the New Testament agree on one fact and that is the fact that the three servants came to report to the king when he eventually came back from his journey. it could be that these three servants represent other servants that were also empowered to occupy. In other words, these three reports stand for good performance, average performance and poor performance. These three reports in another sense represent three types of ' workers in the church and in the society.
Two of these reports were good because they had profit to show for the honour bestowed on them by their master. Imagine the reports and the disposition of these two servants.
“Sir, l have earned ten gold coins with the one you gave me.” Said the first servant. The second servant came and said, ” Sir, l have earned five gold coins with the one you gave me” (Luke 19: 16 & 18)
They were very cheerful, respectful and excited to see their master returned and report to him of their successful ventures.

The concern of this post is on the servant that presented poor report. He was a failure. There is need to x-ray this servant’s life, attitude and venture in order to ascertain the reasons for this type of woeful report.
Many of us are too quick to judge and condemn others for their failure without checking ourselves. Check you rself first before you conclude that you are better than the other persons. Take out the plank in your eyes before advancing to take the speck out of another person’s eye.(Luke 7:1 -6)
The main point that should register in our minds as we consider the fate of this third servant is that, God expects us to be profitable in whatsoever assignment He has given to us. Some deceive themselves by saying that it is faithfulness that matters not the success. This is a wrong assumption or principle. Faithfulness and success intertwined. They are inseparable. If you are faithful, you will be profitable. Faithfulness brings profit. But sad enough, many are looking for profit outside faithfulness.
All through the scriptures, every servant of God that was faithful, ended up with profits. There could be difficulty as you are faithful, and profit may not come on time, but it will surely come. It may appear as if you have nothing to show for your faithfulness thus far, but God’s word assures us that if you will endure in that faithfulness, you will laugh at last. Our God is a ' faithful God. The profit may not be tangible all the time but it Will surely come. Even if you do not see it like Deacon Stephen in the Acts of Apostle, posterity will remember that one man once lived whose life was a complete epitome of faithfulness.

Our focus is still on the third servant who had no favourable report to give to his master. This servant was given the same OPPORTUNITY, CHANCE, TIME AND MEANS like other servants, and yet he failed woefully. This servant had no reason for poor performance. In the same manner, none of us should have any excuse for being unprofitable in that place He has given to us to occupy. God has endowed us with strength, faith, and power of the Holy Spirit. You must determine to be profitable. Our God is not a failure and friend of failure. He wants you to succeed and you will succeed if only you believe that you can succeed.

God opened my eyes to see THREE THINGS that prevented this servant from occupying profitably. These three things dominated the life of this servant and rendered him profitless. l . refer to these inhibiting factors as 3S. They are; SELF, SIN and SATAN. We need to watch out for them as we occupy that positidn we occupy or as we utilize that gift He has given to us. We will now consider these 3S one after the other.
